(I hope this is in the correct section)

Hey everyone, I'm obviously new here and new to owning/operating/tuning Nissans.

My background:

My name's Bobby, I'm 24, I come from what some would call "the dark-side", Honda tuning/modifying. (First car: '95 Integra SE)

Some of you may or may not have seen that picture before. But that's my old car.

I've been obsessed with the sport/art of drifting for several years now and finally had a chance to possibly own/build my own machine. But first, I'll need to use it as a daily driver until funds increase enough to buy a secondary vehicle. (Dad does not like me borrowing his MX-5) lol

So last Friday, a friend and I picked up this automatic 93 SE coupe with a "blown head gasket" for $800. Yes I've seen the write-ups, the manual swap is coming soon. lol

(On the way home...)

The body has some minor "acne" on the drivers side rear quarterpanel, various dings here and there, and a cracked dash but nothing that can't be fixed.

The first night we immediately went to work inspecting the engine bay and everything underneath to give us an idea of what lies ahead.

From what we gathered, it looked like the original owner started to get an overheating problem, and attacked it with trial and error, replacing misc parts. (new radiator, water pump, possibly timing chain, fan clutch, bypassed heater core, removed thermostat, etc.)

Yes, It needed cleaning... bad...

We ran a compression test before removing anything and surprisingly got 165-170psi across all 4 cylinders. So It leads me to believe the motor is still pretty strong regardless of how dirty it looked.

After removing the head, the head gasket wasn't completely shot but i was definitely on its way out... lol.

We took the head to a machine shop to have it cleaned, tested and shaved if needed. (turns out it needed about 17 thousandths taken off)

Now, I'm just cleaning/painting and researching/planning out various things/parts while I wait on my gaskets to get here.

Here's the valve cover...

Base coat:

Oh yeah... Mother Fawkin' Fuschia!!

Anyway, I'm sorry for the crappy iPhone pics, but I should have more soon when I can take some when it's actually sunny outside.

Thanks for looking.
