My finger appears to be infected. I assume this is why they tell you not to bite your finger nails. Son of a @#$%^ hurts like hell.

I am trying to decided if I should OD on Tylenol or Ibuprofin and hope it gets better, lance this sucker and squeeze all the crap out, or go to the Clinic here at work. Nice to have access to a nurse practisionor(sp), but working for the government has it's slight bennifits.

I am sorta leaning towards lancing this sucker, and smearing Neosporan on it.

Suggestions...

by lancing you mean poking yourself with a needle and squeeze out the puss?

not the safest method but that's what I always do

Yeah, that is what I was going for.

I will probally do that when I get home. I have to wait till 1300 before our Employee Health Clinic opens up, and this is starting to get on my nerves. I figure stick, squeeze, yell and cuss loudly, then apply some proxide and neosporan.

Only wusses use painkillers. I'd just find a sharp knife, some rubbing alcohol, and a propane torch. Then I'd use the rubbing alcohol and torch, respectively, to sterilize the blade. Then I'd start slicing until there was nothing of the infected area left. Then I'd use MORE rubbing alcohol to clean and sterilize the new wound, and finally I'd close if off with some gauze.

But that's just me.

And I don't really recommend that. Because if you do something bad I don't want to get sued.

And you have that nurse to go to.Go visit the nice nurse.Maybe she'll be hot.

I have used the clinic before, and they are pretty good to deal with. Just not sure I want to wait till 1 o'clock.

But I do have to go over to the white house (government center) anyway this morning at 9 to get up with personnel for training on how to do employee reviews. Man at teh training classes I have to attend since i got promoted to supervisor. Taking a year long supervisor school, another supervisor school in a few weeks, and then this training.

Anyway, if I go to this training thing it probally wont be but an hour or two to wait after I get out of that. So yeah, maybe I will go to the nurse.

^ I know a guy who lost his finger like that. He was playing basketabll and caught his ring on the net/rim. And it ripped it off.

They were able to reattach it...

that's pretty much what I usually do, except I don't think I've ever been smart enough to use a torch to steralize. Just grab an xacto with a new blade and go to town!

Well I couldnt wait until the training thing was over. I have a fairly high tolerance for pain. But I would almost swear broadsiding that Cadilac at 50mph on my motorcycle, flying over top, landing on my head, dislocating my shoulder and fracturing my rotator cup, didnt hurt as bad as my finger did this morning.

I went to our emloyee clinic at 0800, which I have to go the next town over, as they are down where I work after lunch, and up at the main hospital before lunch. The Nurse Practisoner was out sick, so I had to go to occupational health, because the doctor that is over the clinic runs occupational health.

Great Doc,fixxed me up. Swab it, sprayed it, sliced it, squeezed it, soaked it, dryed it, then squeezed it some more, then bandaged it up. Wrote me a prescription for antibiotics.

The darnest thing, is I didnt pay one red cent. Not at the clinic, the hospital, or the drug store. I dont thing I can find anything to ***** about.

Weenie.... Hydrogen Peroxide a needle, stick it into the middle of it a couple of times, squeeze all the stuff out, repeat again later. Finish by soaking it in HP...

I used to have it happen all the time, but have not had a problem like that in 15 years now.

Gang, this is why it's not smart to keep sticking your finger up your arse...

Learn from Jester, don't be another example.

Just playin man. Glad to know you got that taken care of. I had something like that happen when I was in the service. Had a cut on the tip of my finger and ended up getting some diesel lube oil in it. Not a pretty sight after a couple days, lemme tell ya.

Been one of those weeks. Sinus infection, sore throat, running nose. Then the finger, which is healign up nicely. Just a tad of puss coming out now. And the ear infection is getting better as well.

Anyway, as long as I am in one piece for this week end. I am reffing a scenario paintball game. Man I hope I dont get accidently get shot in the finger. That would suck BAD!

And normally I dont whin this much. But infections hurt.
