My EX35

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Hi everyone

This is the first time I am posting picture and details about my car.

Factory aerodynamic front spoiler and painted factory skirts and rear bumper. I am a performance oriented guy so I am sticking with 18" OZ Canyon and perhaps 19s down the road but nothing huge.

With help of Bryan at Berk Technology, we got the first EX35 High Flow Cat installed on my car. Car sounds great outside but still very quiet inside. Here is the link of the video clip you guys can check it out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZDX5_3FuZXI

Here is the dyno I just ran yesterday. As you can see, normal 20% power loss from crank to the wheel. K&N drop-in filter did not really help... Only good thing about it is that I can wash it every 3000 miles so the filters are always clean. Berk HFC did help gained over 10whp!!! I am really happy with the result and will continuing to work with Berk Technology to develop more parts for the EX in the future!

As far as the suspension goes, they are stock. I was going to get H&R springs but since the release of Skyline Crossover in Japan, I am going to wait for awhile and see what my options are.

Hope you guys like it!

Beautiful car and nice to see real HP gains from a mod. Tell us more about the exhaust. Were they(fingers crossed here) bolt on pieces that just happened to fit the EX or was custom work required? Let us know when it becomes commercially available. Great video too... love the sound. Any difference in fuel economy noticed at all? Keep us posted!

My car was dropped off at Berk to do some measurements. I am not sure what they did but 2 days later I have a set of perfectly bolt on HFCs for EX35. As far as the product releasing, I think its best to contact Berk.

Theoretically, there should be an improvement in the fuel economy but I need few more weeks to collect some actual data then compare. My fuel consumption is pretty bad these few days if you know what I mean

Welcome, and I notice we're both in SoCal.

2 quick question bro.

How much does it cost for the Berk HFC (incl. parts & labor)??

Where did u get the aero kit? Riverside Infiniti?? Seems like they are the only deal carry them around this area.

The retail for G37/370Z HFC is $549.99Complete kit comes with really nice gaskets and all the hardware for install. My HFC is a testing unit, but I guess that EX HFC will be the same price.

As far as the labor goes, it will probably take a skilled mechanic 1 hour with the proper tools. The fitment is great, it bolts right in without any trick.

I got the kit at Riverside Infiniti. You can call them and just do a local pick-up. That will be cheaper than getting it from their ebay listing.

The mud flap does not work with aero kit.The side skit and the rear you see is just painted factory plastic.I did this on purpose because look wise aero side skirts doesn't really make much difference and they cost nearly $800 . I also wanted to keep my mud flaps so I just ended up painging the factory bumper.

I purchase the factory option for the HID and adaptive headlight system… So mine is not the conversion kit.If the money is not the issue, replace them with compete factory HID headlights. I have deal with enough bulbs and conversions to say that.

Halogen bulbs and HID bulbs are completed different animals. Projector lenses look the same outside, but what’s behind it is what makes it different. That is why many people are having hard time aiming their light to produce useful lights than blind the on coming traffic. It is really up to you for what you want to do with your car. Your stock bulb is H11, so all you need a H11 HID conversion kit and you are pretty much set to go. As far as brand, get the cheapest one possible or aiming for the most expensive one on the market. Anything under $100 is crap and will give you problems soon or later so why not get the cheapest possible? If you want something that last longer, that will be $300~$400 price range. Philips makes a slim kit for about $450, but they also have the non-slim ones for somewhere about $150 on ebay.

If visibility is your major concern, try going with halogen bulbs like the Philips Vision+ or Osram Silver Star (Not the Sylvania). They are lot cheaper and produce good useful lights but they are not blue or white…

Thanks for your info, dude! It helps me a lot. By the way, how much do i have to spend if i choose the factory kit? How long does it take for the factory to get it done?

Do you mean the headlight kit?The complete headlight will run you about $1100 per side... http://www.primepartssuperstor...gid=0Installation shouldn't be too hard since most of the modern cars now are all prewired.

Nice Looking EX! I really like your set up here.

With only front aero spoiler installed, do it create an uneven look for front & rear bumper?

Do you have some pics from the side and rear?

Thanks for sharing!

Not really, I think it look more classy and less sporty with just the front spoiler installed. I have factory plastic painted so they match pretty well.I will post other pictures this weekend after I wash it.

So how are you liking the HFC's? Does the butt dyno feel an improvement? Were there any problems with "check engine" lights at all and even with your enthusiastic diving style, any diff in MPG's noticeable?

When I first got the HFC installed butt dyno feels nothing...However few days later I decided to reset my ECU and then I did feel improvement. Also the fact that it did add 10whp to the car.

No CEL, Berk HFC comes with CEL fix so it will never throw you one cause of the HFC.

As far as MPG, I just filled my tank today so I won’t really know until a week later, but it will probably take me few more tanks to find out.

So tell me a little more about the sound at speed. Did you achieve a throatier, deeper sound under acceleration or is it raspier? I am almost ready to order from Berk but I would appreciate a little more info from you first. TIA

Sorry for the late reply, been really busy recently...It gives a raspier sound under hard acceleration but doesn’t sound like Honduh tin cans at all. I sounds very similar to a 350Z with stock exhaust + HFC but quieter. I think with after market muffler installed, the sound will be lot deeper.

Leo ...

I just had the aero kit put on my EX. They come factory painted. The service manager told me the factory suggests 5 hours of labor to install. Apparently, it's not just a simple matter of bolting the stuff on.

Regarding cost ... well you know this economy stinks. Negotiate!! I got the kit installed plus the rear bumper protector for $1850 (tax was included). One other dealer had quoted me $2200 w/out tax.
