About a week ago, I started to hear a rattling noise, thought it was the timming chain. Eventually, it got louder and today the car just died. I tried cranking it and the power on all my electronics just goes really low and the engine barely cranks. Put a new battery in and the same thing. We manage to get it to start and it makes a really loud knocking sound, like the piston is hitting against something. I tried to drive it back and eventually it began to lose power. The wideband has been reading max lean for the last couple of weeks. I thought my wideband was messed up because it read fine NA. I was running 10 psi before any of this happened, than i turned to down to 5 psi when the wideband kept staying at lean. The safc has no effect on the fuel whatsoever, any ideas?? My engine was beginning to smoke a little bit, it seems like the engine is about to go, any ideas??

when it was running lean, was the car running normal? also what is ur timing at? did u get ur injectors tested and balanced or did they come off a running vehicle? how lean is lean? and was this lean on and off boost? was there any fluctuation with the a/f's during normal driving? compression test would b the first thing to do in my eyes.

1st I would think that your SAFCII is not hooked up right if you keep changing settings and nothing is happening.

2nd if it is knocking that loud I would pull the motor and tear it down. Mine was knocking and wiped a bearing and had shavings in the pan. You could do a compression test to see what it is reading but I bet you will have to pull the motor.

Funny thing was, my wideband was working fine NA. The car idles normal and everything, ocassionally, it would be a little rough. The safc works, my old t3 setup had no problem, everything worked fine untill I bolted on this t3/to4. The wideband read max lean and ran fine, it would ocassionally read for a few secs than stop. By the way, i think it's time for an RB25det or a Sr20det. I let me friend drive it for a month when I was gone, he could of messed it up, but I got no proof of that!!!

How much boost were you running?

Going from a T3 to a T3/T4 is a big step in mass flow and you might have been correcting the injectors too much on the S-AFC, causing an advanced timing map.

Also sounds like you may have had a boost leak or exhaust leak for the WBO2 to read max lean.

You let your friend drive your car!!!???

10psi tuned with the safc running 11.7 across. I let my friend drive it because he said he wanted to buy my car, obviouslly he's not now!!!! I checked my o2 sensor and it's hooked on tight, does'int seem to be any leaks.

Im surprised your engine has lasted this long, I remember since day one you have been here you have made the funniest threads ive ever seen. When your wideband "stoped working" you should have looked into and fixed the problem, not drivin on it for weeks.

a bad maf can cause alot of things. from what ive noticed, when the stock maf is maxed out, the safc tuning adjustments arent that great. u said u turned down the boost to five psi and u were still running lean? how lean is lean? also what were ur safc maps? and once again, what is ur base timing set to?

Well guys, thxs for all the help, yesturday I took the maifold off my car and found a huge hole in my block. I'm just gonna get rid of the engine and get a sr20det black top. When I removed the wideband o2 sensor, it was completely covered in thick black carbon. This could of been why it was off, not sure because I only used it for 5000 miles.

Whats up guys, i hav'int been here in a long time. But i was the one who blew my engine awhile back and had a ghetto setup. I just got back last week from overseas and oh boy, were there suprises waiting for me!! I almost got everything in, i got a used engine and had to transfer my intake mani and everything else to my new engine. But heres my new part list, i almost got everything in already. What do you think? I plan on hitting 500, but since i'm broke again, i gotta save for that crate motor, lol.

Groundzero mani + downpipe AMS 72 lbs fuel system JWT ecu tune s13 hot cams hks ss bov safc2 spec stage 4 6 puck clutch fidanza flywheel greddy fmic still running the t3/t4 Tokico blues with tein springs nismo power brace 5 lug conversion running Work Equips 16X8 16X9 z32 slotted and drilled front brakes

The only thing left is putting my engine in and finishing my rear 5 lug conversion and waiting for my JWT!! I'll be posting a dyno early next month, muahahaha!!! I will be hitting 350.
