Could you PM me some details on pricing? Id also like to get the intake honed and cleaned of any debris before putting this one back on.
My guy is Don Wood, Black300ZX on TT.net, I'm unsure if he's on here. My plenum was "polished" prior to me sending it out, so it was already smooth. IMHO, I'd match up the Z1 TBs, cut away the material needed, then begin sanding the plenum smooth. There are many writeups on smoothing and polishing the plenum. You don't need to get it super smooth. Then I'd bring it to a local machine shop and ask them to soak it in the hot-tank or ultrasonic cleaner. Finally I'd contact Don or another PCer for a quote. I believe mine ran about $200 for the plenum and TBs. His powdercoating work is second to none.
Thx dude.

If I can find a place out here that does it for a reasonable price Ill go for it, these guys out here currently charge way too much upwards of 4-500 for everything including getting it cleaned. A friend of mine recommended I get it honed prior to re-installation.

I agree with the look of those timing covers too! I sanded mine down and redid it in high temp bronze and baked it. Looks almost the same but I wanna take em off and redo em now seein yours.

Can you give me the size of the allen key bolts you got for your coil packs? Definitely gives it a superclean look. :dblthumb:

Don't know if it ever made it to an FAQ or what not, but here's my stainless engine bay bolt guide:

The timing covers don't need to be baked. Just a lot of sanding and Bondo spot filler, then paint and finish sanding and dry time.

Honing the plenum isn't a bad idea, just minimal benefit/cost ratio.

I'm a little late tuning in here, but Tony this is awesome! I have to say it is one of the cleanest engines, shoot, on of the cleanest cars around. Very impressive build. You ever planning on internal work?

Thanks man, greatly appreciated :bigthumb:

As for the internals...I play Powerball when it gets big enough

I know exactly what I'd do, given the time and money. Now I just need to get those things! I think I'll do a built motor for the engine sitting in my garage. That's the one I'm saving for a 620/720 build with my brother.

Ace Hardware. HD and Lowes won't have stainless metric, but all my local Ace hardware stores do. Otherwise McMaster or Fastenal.

RDZ also sells stainless bolt kits with many of the ones I listed in that guide

Funny how that worked out for you. My local Ace Hardware has standard only. I go to Lowe's for my random metric bits and pieces, and they have stainless too

The local Fastenal has EVERYTHING.

Weird, but yeah, Fastenal, McMaster and Grainger will have everything. Brass metric I had to go to Grainger for the M8 and McMaster for the M6. Ace's are independently owned, so maybe they have a bigger variance. Lowe's may have a regional difference.

Thx dude,

I found a guy of TT.net that was selling a SS bolt kit. Gonna wait 156 pieces I think he said?

Also, I cant see to find this on CZP or Z1. I need that valve on your intake plenum, beside the balance tube that screws in. Can I pick it up somewhere? On mine the valve/hole was screwed in.

The thing on the left of the balance tube in the picture, toward the back of engine, near the firewall with the silver silicone hoses going to a T? That's a 1/4" NPT reducer. OEM there's just a screw cap in there. I got it from McMaster Carr...

NP. It's aluminum, and it makes use of that otherwise useless space. I never add it up though, you'll be scared.

you have a chance to dyno it yet? I've always wondered how much you could get out of sport 500s. how much are you boosting?
To answer your question a few years later... 456 FT-LB and 435 RWHP at 19PSI with Methanol. Could have been about +50 FT-LB and 35RWHP more if I had my plugs properly gapped.

Thanks guys, it was a labor of love :chuckle:

The torque is fun, very very fun. Combined with the brakes I have, makes for a nice go and stop quick package. Dollar for dollar, you won't find a torquier turbo than the Sport500's.
