I got two electric fans off my girly-freind's 94 sentra for free, so I rigged one of them up, (no room for both, not that it needed it). They are made by Calsonic, are dual coil, and the way I have it hooked up (one coil only), it draws about 3.75 amps. I noticed the underhood temps can go up when its off unless I'm going at least 45 mph on a cool day, and on the freeway at 70, it always is on, not a big deal since its a high quality unit, and draws but 3.75 amps, (plus the radiator is always hot because I don't run a thermostat either, but thats beside the point). There is a little TQ/HP gain, mostly noticeable from 2900-5850 rpm., nothing to write a book about, but enough to write a thread about. It is controlled by a toggle switch only. Here are some pics.[IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG]and a pic of my interior[IMG][/IMG]

Why do you have it running off of a tog switch? I would wire it right to an ignition source. it would run all the time, but that is what you need at low RPMs. The slower you are driving the less amount of air flowing through the radiator. On the high way you are going faster so you have more air flow. Great install, just need to clean up the wires a bit. I love using parts off other cars to improve on stuff.

How did you mount it to the radiator?

i liek the toggle switch idea... i have warm up issues and it cools to easily on downhill decel... so i could control that by switch! nice job man!

It's fastened to the shroud. I was worried at first about the extra stress on the shroud, (the fan weighs between 3 1/2 and 4 lbs.), but I haven't had any problems so far

Did you use zip-strips to secure it? Is it possible to use the same mounts a transmission cooler uses?

The fan isn't round, it has 4 corners. 3 corners are bolted to the plastic shroud with stop nuts, and one corner is double zip tied because I ran out of bolts. I didn't have to trim the shroud in my case, but I imagine you might have to trim the shroud somewhat depending on the shape of the fan you end up with, either way its no big deal as long as the fan clears the water pump pulley bolts and is not rubbing against the radiator. Just test fit while building it to make sure its all good.
