I think I know how this is going to go. I want everyone's perception on how good their driving capabilities are in general terms. Also please list the qualities that make a excelent/good driver.

I know I am a horrible driver. When you see me swerving on the highway. I am just reloading.

budPlease rate your driving ability

Yeah I say average, but the law says bad. It's my word against theirs.

LOL @ skwerel... LMAO.... :D

I'd say i'm pretty damn good, having quite a bit of track time at Bondurant, as well as some law enforcement pursuit techniques training and several defensive driving courses... Plus over a million miles of "windshield time" with no accidents.

However, i also know at 33 my reflexes and eyesight are not what they were 10 years ago.

Qualities that make a good driver? The combination of a lot of real-life training scenarios, plus saddle time, plus a perfectly-maintained high-performance vehicle, and a refusal to engage in distractions while driving (phone, food, drink, etc.) all add up in my opinion.

I voted 'good' as I expect most people to do. My whole childhood I spent time on go-kart tracks. Mostly dirt tracks. Constantly reinforcing RWD skills. It was fun at the time but I never had any clue to how much it would pay off in the future with real cars. Especially RWD in the snow and rain.

I voted Good as I don't think there was one there to accurately decribe me... =\While I like to think of myself as an excellent driver, as everyone does, I do realize that I've been driving for less than 3 years and while I am adequately experienced, I know I can be more so. I've avoided a number of imbeciles and morons out there that just seem like they're trying to cause accidents but I also know that a couple of times my concentration has waivered and I was that person.Controlling over/under-steer seems to come naturally to me so I'm quite proud of that aspect but being a young male I do realize that sometimes I'm a bit over aggressive, but nothing actually dangerous 'cuz I know I don't have the money to fix my car, much less someone else's. :)

I am a good driver. I just do stupid stuff. Got pulled over sunday for slinging my car around in the rain. I just couldn't help myself. Boy was that cop ill cause he had to get out into the rain. I am praying that I don't lose my license. Gotta go to court can't pay the fine.

I'm pretty good. Delivering pizzas in an area full of old people for 2.5 years will hone your driving skills. Then their are countless autoX's in my old MR2 (not the easiest car to drive anyway)

Also LOTS of runs at the track help with reaction speeds and stuff.

I would have gotten in a wreck in my first car had i not been a pizza man. It was raining and someone pulled out RIGHT in front of me on a 40 mph road. I was able to dodge off to the right in the grass and go around them.

Another time my AWD eclipse had to do some wet weather drifting because someone ran a stop sign. (i ended up going the direction they had been coming from. It was basically a balls out right hand AWD Powerslide)

Never coulda done THAT without autocross

I have a similar situation as Hitman. Well over a million street miles with a clean driving record and a ton of seat time on race tracks in a variety of cars, so I suppose that puts me a little bit above average. On the track, Michael Schumaker doesn't have to worry about me replacing him anytime soon. I'm waaaaaay down the racing ladder, toward the bottom rung. And that's fine with me. I just enjoy driving...

I'm not bad, not saying I'm the best either. Just buy following the laws, not being stupid behind the wheel. I think those are aspects of a good driver. Not "experienced" (which I didtn' say I was), but, good.

I voted for a good driver because I feel I can drive well, or at least better than 95% of the morons on the roads today. I still have tons of room for growth and learning, of course, but I feel in control of my car at all times. Having only put 3000 miles on my 240 I am sure I will only get better with time, but the only real *driving* I do is a local back road that is similar to something you'd see in Initial-D. I don't drift or anything, but I enjoy accelerating through those turns :D

Oh, and no tickets or accidents in 3+ years of driving.

I say good because I don't get intimidated (most people my age do) and I stay aware of the basic rules. I also like to note the fact that I learned to drive manual when I was 13, so that by now I drive it as well as most adults who do. Considering I've had my license for a month as of today, and no accidents or close calls, considering the driving records of most teens in my area (which, considering the parents, isn't totally awful), I'm pretty good. My lack of experience is the only thing that really counts against me, so I ignored that and just went on how much experience I do have as of now. I drove tons when I had my permit, and I've always wanted to drive, so it came naturally to me to some extent. No, I'm not perfect, but for my age/experience I'm pretty good.

I would say I am a pretty good driver but there is always room for improvement cause I don't think anyone can say their driving is the best or couldn't be improved. I think since starting to Autocross this year it is honing my abilities a bit more too at least driving the car closer to the edge of its abilities I suppose.

I have only been in one wreck that was my fault when I was 17 and I hit a mailbox hehe when I was messing with my cd player (that was a good one :rolleyes ) and the two other wrecks I have been in have been the other drivers fault cause they rear ended me at stoplights  so I couldn't move my car even though I saw it coming.

That and I grew up going to the go cart track all the time (still enjoy that and throwing people off the track heheh like say Tony or Dane hehe). That and I have driven on the road going to work when the interstate is caked inches in snow and had no incident although I was quite nervous on every occcasion so I would say I a a pretty good driver especially compared to most idiots out on the road today. Whew that was long hehehe

I consider myself a good driver and alot better than the average driver on the road. I've been driving pretty much everyday since I got my liscence (16) and have never had an accident (21 now). I 've definitely become less aggresive over the years, but I think thats a good thing. Also I think that people who drive stick are almost always pretty good drivers because they HAVE to be involved and pay attention, not to mention most of us enjoy driving more therefore we take more pride in it. sorry if I offended any auto guys out there, I'm not really talking about us 240 owners ;)

To me the stick may as well be an auto. I think about it just as mutch. Even when i'm drag racing at the track i don't really have to consciously shift. It just happens.
