Apparently karma has caught up with me...my car door is possesed by demons.

I went to go wash it, and noticed that the passenger window wasnt closed all the way, so i turn the key on and hit the "up" button...but nothing happens. I can hear the motor working, and i hear a wierd scraping sound. So i try the "down" button, and the window sinks all the way down. Does not come up. Frustrated, and knowing that the motor isnt broken, i spend about an hour getting off the entire door panel. Half the screws were completely stuck, and it took multiple tools to get out each one without stripping them completely... (especially the damned door handle screw) I even removed the three screws surrounding the lock, not knowing if they were connected to the panel (this comes into play later) I look inside into the motor when the panel is off, and i see the cable is all tangled up around like a hundred obstacles.. I get up to go back into the shop to get some tool to fish it out when i 'barely' tap the door, and it starts to close...remembering the lock screws were out, i make a quick grab but too late...the door closes in one of those "halfway" states, where it is still ajar. I try to open it from the outside. Wont open. Try inside. Wont open. Reach inside door, try to open from the back of the lock. Wont open. I sit and stare at the damn thing for like 10 minutes...

Now the door wont close, wont open, the window wont close, wont open (i stuffed in towel so its up, but it easily falls with a nudge) and the lock is not responding and i cant get the damn cable re routed because my hands are to big to fit into the damn door. Basically if ANYONE knows how to hook up the motor cable and unlock the door from the INSIDE it would be GREATLY appreciated. A preist is also welcome to come and say last rights while throwing holy water on it...

Can you look and see if the rods are disconnected? Sounds like one of several things happened: The door locked itself when it shut and now you can't unlock it because the whole assembly is moving around, the rods could have come off for the lock, the lock rods could be pushed into the lock position due to the out of position latch, or all of the rods came off. You might try to hold it in place while a friend tries to open the door and/or unlock it. Hope this helps a little.

same thing happened to me awhile back. do you have a s14?at first the door would close(acted like the seat belt was in the way(it wasnt))so i fingered with the latch on the door and slamed it. then it wouldnt open or close and i had to pay $200 for some guy to chisel the mechanism off and install a new one. good luck

Well i solved the lock problem today... very time consuming. I disasembled most of the lock through the back side of the door, then opened the door and reasembled it. put those damn three screws back in too :) Now my only problem is the window... I can look in at the pulley and see the cable going all over the place, but there isnt much room in there to maneuver around so its difficult figuring out what goes around what..

If the regulator and motor just unbolt, it may be easiest just to remove that assembly.

Mine does that ****. I've tried adjusting the striker bolt but it doesn't help any. What mechanism are you talking about? The one that locks down onto the bolt?
