My Distributor keeps shocking me!!! help!

my distributor shocks the crap out of me anytime the car is running.i recetnyl did the KA swap and everything went fine.

we went to advance the timing today.. and the distributor shocked the crap out of 3 of us..

is it the distributor cap thats bad??if not what else could it be?

im afraid to touch anywhere near it now ha

sounds like your touching the coil somehow. Is the input coil jacket torn, any wire fray?

as far as iknow no wires are frayed.torn.what got me is its plastic.. how am igetting shocked.

use a testlight or a jumper wire to find out where the spark is coming from, testlight is better b/c it is insulated, could be cracked dist cap, bad boot on a ignition wire, just wave it around until you see a spark jump to the tip

A test light is just for testing 12V circuits, I cant see it being too useful here.

Take some pics of it, now why are you touching it?

testlight will work just fine. it wont even blow it out. you are looking for the spark, not the light to light up on the testlight, the reason it is usefull is because it is electrically insulated so you dont get zapped.

I figured it out.turns out plug wire # 3 was torn on the underside..so i didnt see it.also was plug 4..but that one didn't spark as much.

used a testlight and it directed me to the problem
