My factory Sony 10 disc changer in my 1994 Q45, is scratching the outisde edges of all my CD's. This is ruining the last 2 to 3 songs on the albums.

I have had some trouble, in the past with skipping, but did not think it was messing up the CD's. I think I can polish the scratches out, but I am still pissed.

I have heard of sending the unit off to Sony or Bose, for a complete rebuild for about $120.00 Does anybody have any suggestions?

I have thought of taking it apart, and cleaning it. It is 10 years old!

Thanks for the help.

Jeff - What does your connector look like?

Call me if you have to - I have another member's CD changer here, and I fear it may not connect to my harness...

(602) 828-8908

Thanks brotha!

No digital camera, yet, but I took it out, and here is what I see:

On the CD Changer:A box attached to the side of the changer, with a cable running down to the corner of the unit. A single connector, about 1" wide, by 1/2" tall, with 2 rows of pins on the side of the box. The row of pins closest to the changer has 10 pins, and the upper row has 3 on the right side, and 3 on the left side. This is a plastic female connector, with male pins, so it is technically a male connector. Inside this little box, ther is a printed circuit board, with 2 connectors on it, that are tiny, about 1/8" by 5/8". One is orange, and has black(Sumitomo printed on it), white, pink, white, purple, lt blue, orange wires. The other is white, with Grey, Blue, Brown, Yellow, Green WHite Red Black wires.

The PC board has "SONY 1-645-266-11" printed on it.

The CD Changer is a Sony, model CDX-5N67, Nissan part # B8182-C9974

I hope this helps.

I think that's the same as mine.

That means this new one won't fit my (or your) car. :(

I'll get more details on mine this weekend when I have an hour to pull it. That damn thing is irritating me.

I wonder if Bose makes an adapter to go from the connector you reference to the inputs that are on this one I have?

If the new one you have, has a box on the side, with a printed circuit board in it, you might be able to disaddemble it, and it might be compatible, with a different box for connection to a different wiring harness.

I took mine out in 2 minuttes, and had the thing apart in about 3 more.

Not a very hard job.

Didn't work. Tried everything we discussed. The harnesses aren't interchangeable, even swapping out the adapter box is impossible.

Gonna send it back, and I'm back to square one. Grrrr.
