I learned some hard lessons today at the track, but it wasn't all bad. I got to beat a c4 corvette.

Ok, keep in mind, I have a 3.5 6mt.Track elev: 444 ftAdjusted elev: 281ftTemp: 54*FBP: 29.99 inch-HgDP: 47*F

Run #1 Time: 9:07 amFor this run, the first lesson is: You can't do a burnout with traction control on. Second lesson is: 6mt's can't launch with traction control off! (at least i couldn't)Third lesson: You don't need to push to the right when going into 3rd gear, there is a dead spot between 3rd and 5th...and you will go into neither....i just hung my head in shame after this run.

R/T: .43260': 2.928330': 7.6931/8: 11.384MPH: 70.201000: 14.2881/4: 16.672MPH: 96.81

Run #2 Time: 9:21 amThis run ended up being my best run of the day.

R/T: .23560': 2.292330': 6.3161/8: 9.540MPH: 77.331000: 12.2641/4: 14.545MPH: 99.87

Run #3 Time: 10:03 amI found that dead spot between 3rd and 5th gear again. At least my reaction times are getting better.

R/T: .18760': 2.349330': 6.3971/8: 9.769MPH: 74.221000: 12.5801/4: 14.926MPH: 96.78

Run #4 Time: 10:29amI'm lame, I missed 3rd...AGAIN!!! Best r/t of the day though.

R/T: .13760': 2.370330': 6.4381/8: 9.907MPH: 72.901000: 12.7591/4: 15.130MPH: 95.87

Run #5 Time: 11:04 amThis had my worst 60' time(aside from my first run with tcs off)...i just cant get traction even with tcs on *sigh*

R/T: .17160': 2.379330': 6.4561/8: 9.738MPH: 76.131000: 12.4971/4: 14.802MPH: 99.57

Run #6 Time: 12:32 pmLast run before I had to leave. Almost a clone of my second run.

R/T: .23460': 2.294330': 6.2991/8: 9.542MPH: 76.991000: 12.2811/4: 14.571MPH: 99.56

So as you can see, if I can just dial in my launch, i'll be down in the 14.2's or better. Any input/advice is welcomed and greatly appreciated.

Go out and practice launching on the road. Try a 3.5k rpm drop and if it spins for more than a second, try 3.2k and so on until you reach the best grip/drop scenario.

that's what i was going to say. that and also make sure you heat up your tires, that would help a little with traction. with cvt i barely get any wheel spin at the track. but then again CVT can only launch at a little under 3000 RPM.

you are launching too high especially with the ****ty turanzas that nissan has plagued us with. you can launch @ 2700RPM and run 2.1-2.2 60fts all day, the only thing you have to do is slip the clutch. there will be some wheelspin but as soon as you feel the car hook just punch the gas and go.

your 2nd run was pretty good. the 60ft was aright, 1/4 mile time was aright, but the trap speed was just beautiful. the problem is, with a 60ft like that you cant hit faster times, but your trap speed shows the potential of the car, which is low 14's.

heres my best run that ive made. you can use it for comparison to yours, i have a sedan though, but its still the same motor and transmission. btw my overall time wouldve been a really low 14, but i ran out of gas as soon as i hit 4th gear oh and another thing, its better to run your car with TCS OFF because if you chirp second, which you probably will, the car will hold back power in order to cut down wheelspin resulting in a slower time.

When i ran, i had an almost full tank of gas, so....i'm thinking that was good for about .1 off my time and when shifting into second with tcs on, i didnt "feel" any slowdown in the car, but thats not to say it wasn't there. I'm just gonna have to practice launching until i get it down pat.
