As some of you may know, my '00 AE has been tripping a variety of crazy codes. Since I installed a new engine recently, I've spent time diagnosing and trying to find the issue. I finally gave up and brought my car to Infiniti of Hanover, MA. I never have anyone work on my car except tires, so it was tough to swallow the $110/hour to have a tech diagnose the issue. After 2.5 hours, it appears the problem is electrical, and they suspect the harness is damaged. I am pretty certain that the harness wasn't damaged BY the engine, but who knows, bending the harness around after 185k if something shorted out...

I got a 2011 g37x as a loaner during the service. It is a sweet ride, I find the dash cluster to be unnecessarily complex, but the engine is solid and the car is very comfortable.

They didn't manage to get the time in that they wanted on my car today, so they sent me home with the G for the night. I don't really mind, except I do have to drive an extra 90 miles. I'll live, I just hope they can figure out where the problem is.

Amazingly, my car qualifies for a recall of my rims, and they overnighted 4 brand new '00 Q45 rims! I thought that was pretty cool.

The dealership was very nice, the staff was very courteous, and hopefully the techs will be able to figure out what's going on with it. I was impressed with the level of service, the loaner car, and hope that they will have resolution for me. Either way, I got a set of 4 new wheels for nothing!

well $110 an hour is what the Nissan Dealers charge in the Bay Area. The Infiniti is up to $150 I wanna say, don't really remember anymore as I have not been there for real service in a long time.

Either way Infiniti stealerships were/are very good and the loaners cars, ahhh, I remember the loaner cars were so nice. My next ride is either a Lexus GS450h or a M35 hybrid (if I was buying today) and to have those loaner cars and waiting rooms with free cooffee under warranty!

Good luck, I am sure that they will figure out the issues you have...BTW, why a new engine, did yours die?

If they're trying to get me to buy a g37x, well, they're doing a great job! This thing is a blast to drive!!!

Anyway, great news, seems that a 10a fuse was "half" blown, and thus tripping 12 of my 13 codes. They figured this out, changed the fuse, and now only 1 code remaining. I knew I could rely on them!

Anyway, so that's great news.

Yeah, my engine blew at 188k at 6.8k on the highway.

He said my engine was "noisy." I mentioned I didn't have top or bottom covers installed, and that might be contributing to it, but he said it seemed excessively noisy. Wondering if I should be bothered by this.

Remember these guys don't see many VH engines anymore. I wouldn't worry until it blows.

VERY interesting!

I have no idea if my vehicle ever had the rims replaced. Maybe I should drop it by the local dealer for an oil change to find out...

Yeah - I couldn't believe it. He said there were only 8 left in the east coast warehouse, 8 original Q45 AE Rims brand new.

Pretty ridiculous! At 212k, I really wasn't expecting $2,000 worth of free stuff :)

If it's ~$500 or less for the diagnostics and repairs, I'll be thrilled.

Recall never expired on those wheels as it is a safety issue associated with potential cracking. The TSB has been published on here before.

About 4-5 hours total labor, all CEL lights fixed. I would recommend the team at Infiniti Hanover to anyone here, some things that take 10+ hours to us can take 1 hour with the right expertise and tools, and I'm glad I recognized the need to get them involved! The loaner car was great, price was right, and car fixed. The free new wheels on top of the deal are too sweet to even appreciate until I see them. The best $500 I've spent on this car in the 6 years of ownership was paying Infiniti to do something instead of doing it myself!

It works out good for you.
So all codes were tripped because of a blown 10A fuse?
Did you have code P1400 before you went in? So they fixed the P1400 also?

yeah, all fixed! I did have a 1400, but a bunch of codes were from the fuse, and some codes were from those codes. I am left with two bad o2 sensors, that's it. Not bad! Very happy and the wheels look great.

Sad to say been driving with the codes for a while. Need to look at soon, so unsure.

Let me tell you about my day at the Infiniti dealership. All of this was for replacement trim and fasteners for my windshield. Anyways, I call Crossroads (Infiniti, Mercedes, Land Rover, Jaguar, Volvo) to order my parts and they tell me on orders that large they have to be ordered in person and payed for first. Okay, fair enough. So I drive an HOUR to them just to order my parts because they can't go through the local nissan dealer 15 minutes away. I get there and it took the parts counter guy literally 30 minutes to come to the window AFTER I rang the bell. By this time I'm already annoyed but I suck it up and try to order my parts. The guy tries to pull up my car but says he can't find it so I tell him to come out to my car to get the VIN and physically look at the mouldings and fasteners to make sure he got the right stuff. He orders the parts and I'm on my way thinking everything was settled and I'll have my windshield installed next week (ordered parts on friday and arrived tuesday for my safelite appointment on wednesday). I drive back another hour to pick up the parts and, to my astonishment, all the bags and boxes had "FGY33 97-2001" stamped on it. Needless to say there were words thrown at him and I got the manager to get my parts. This whole ordeal took about 2 weeks because my ACTUAL parts were just coming off of backorder and it took 3 trips to Roanoke which is a 2 hour round trip for me on the weekday and took time off of work. This makes me  just reading it......

This parts debacle reminds me of my first (and last time) at Holman Infiniti in Maple Shade. I needed spark plugs for my 92 G50 and I wanted to go OEM platinum-tipped. I ask the parts guy for them, he asks me "Four or six?". That day, I decided never to even let them get a glimpse of my car and I took everything to Keith Van Meter (Almost an hour away) to get my guides changed & valve covers resealed.

Why not have ordered those from Infiniti of scotsdale to begin with and get them mail order, no tax and cheaper than the locals...and correct parts every time. I order NOTHING from the local Peninsula Infiniti in the Bay Area, they are 2x sometimes from everthinginfiniti. I was even able to cancel a part that I ended up not needing a day after ordering it, and they were nice enought to cancel.

I agree on the problems with Infiniti of Redwood City CA aka Peninsula Infiniti. Screwed up replacement fuel pump on my 1996 Q. At the same time screwed up the antenna for remotes which is right near the fuel pump. Work order had twice the repair time on it. Noted that to them. Then later that night, Accused me of scratching their loaner car (28,000 miles on that loaner when i got it), and said a credit card payment of $100.00 would solve that problem. I said call AAA, they said 'never mind'. Now I hear the service department from Peninsula Infiniti heads the new Infiniti here in San Francisco. I have a great independent service company, 'Hans Art Auto' repair that does all my work and I get the parts from Scottsdale.

I had good luck with Peninula Infiniti while I was under warranty, the service writer became the manager and he always treated me right. However, I hadn't done anything there in years, I do the same thing, good independent service mechanic (Richard's Auto Repair in San Bruno) and Scotsdale parts
