my dad bought a versa..(some questions =D)

hello everyone, im pretty new here and i dont really know detailed stuff about cars like you guys do thats why i've got a few questions to ask.

well my dad bought an 07(i believe) automatic transmission or whatever you guys call it Versa sl and i was wondering if this car would be tune up worthy. like makin it a bit fast, no turbos or really big things just minor stuff coz this car might be handed down to me in a couple of years or so but being that its automatic and all im not too sure if i should tune it up or not, coz you know we guys like it manual when it comes to this .. lol gives it more of a racer look or whatnot.

im asking this too because my friends own subaru imprezas and evos and stuff, and if i do end up getting this car, i just wanna make it nice and feel more confident when im with them.

if you want a fast car, trade it in for something else, no point in fixing up the CVT. That is why I have a Versa, AND a Mustang GT!

My personal advice would be if you're getting the car, you're not going to want a gas guzzling car, you're going to want something that's light on your wallet - so stay away from moding the car, and keep a light foot. Maybe do some things that make it look cool on the outside: new wheels, real spoiler, tinted windows...

Besides my own opinion your Father probably doesn't want to have much of anything done to the car while it's still under warranty, so you may not get to touch anything under the hood for a few years. And, do you really want to invest money in showing off to your friends in a car you may not get?

Oh, and they make Automatic and CVT trans for this car. An automatic you will notice shifting between gears, a CVT has smooth acceleration with no noticeable pause.

There are many different ways to mod a vehicle... and many of the things to do to "make it fast" will void your warranty (as mentioned by matttail) and probably won't make much of a difference (as mentioned by Clipsed)... And nothing will put you anywhere near your friends with the Subies and Evos. You could 'make it faster' with a really expensive total re-do of everything under the hood and all the piping... but you won't get a chance to do that to a warrantied car and for the money, it's probably not worth it.

well i know for a fact that its not going to be easy making this versa fare with imprezas and evos and im not intending to do that. i just wanna feel comfy once i start driving it with my friends (sigh loL), or maybe just buy my own car but this is whats available to me right now so i'd like to know if its worth spending some money and make it nicer.

i saw the body kit section here and it made the car waaaaay nicer! only thing is, ours is color red (my puupa picked it.. )

so i have a cvt, is that good or like maybe better than automatic? also, whats a CAI? i saw it on youtube the other day.
