full coverage is not worth it on cars that arent worth alot of money if you dont have a loan on them that requires you to have it

I dunno....I run full coverage on my stuff. And an s14 isn't worth full coverage? Don't really see that. Also, he said the car is the love of his life, for the few bucks a month he should have better protected it and thus wouldn't be in this situation

depending on driving record, full coverage and liability can be a matter of several hundred dollars a month. not everyone has tons of money.

A few more bucks? What you can afford may not be what someone else can afford. I didnt have full coverage on my civic when I totalled it. Why? Because I couldnt afford the extra $50 a month on my insurance (with me being 18 when I totalled it). And although its a risk, its not everyday that ONE person has accidents everyday. So when I started driving at 16 and then 2 years later totalling it = an extra $1200 ($50 per month).

Everyone's situation is different...

well, on top of the frame being restraightened and getting what looks like a new control arm, strut, and possibly TC rod, a strawberry conversion will run you another $3000. $3000 is about as good as you're going to get, and if you get it for less, look at the reviews on the store cause they might not be too legit or the parts might not be quality.

Exactly my point. If I had a new car, then of course I'd get full coverage. But sometimes its not worth it, point blank and simple.

Insurance rates are ridiculous. I think insurance should be based on the person's driving record rather than stupid ***holes who race, crash, and get DUI's left and right.

Full coverage on my truck is only $1800/year, which I don't think is bad and thats having $200 deductibles. Thats my own insurance and I'm only 20.

It depends how old the car is. Insurance companies I've talked to in my experience, state that they will not give full coverage insurance to cars over 10 years old. SO, people with Zenki's, like myself, will be out of luck getting full coverage insurance.

even with the 240sx "boom" lately I can pick up an s13 coupe for under 2000 any day of the week and have my choice of a few cars. To get full coverage on an unmarried 22 year old male, even with multicar, good student, and no claims, I'm still gonna be paying the price of the car every year. And my insurance does not cover any aftermarket parts, so there is really no point.

And as far as the damage there is no way to tell from that pic. If its simple, it could be a fender and a spindle/strut assembly, thats assuming that your suspension sheared off. If there is damage to the strut tower, however, then are looking at a much more difficult fix.

I don't have full converage on my 95 240.It was gonna be $3000 for the next 3 years, but the max amount they would give me would be $2000 if I got in wreck. You do the math.

This was right after a wreck by myself (fell asleep at the wheel), and had to cash out on my full coverage on my SE-R.

yeah, you can pick up a fender for cheap, as well as some of the suspension stuff if nothing else was twisted/sheered. if theres frame damage, its going to be considerably difficult to repair as well as expensive.

as far as the S14.5 conversion....im sure you can do it with stock S15 parts, but it will require more cutting and welding than im sure you want to do. the kits are the easiest way to go. west yokohama fenders, hood, brakcets and bumper as well as a set of lights and the harnesses and turn signals and such. its mostly bolt on, but not a super easy swap.

If the frame is tweaked, it's probably totalled.

Get a mechanic or a very car-oriented friend to take a look at it and figure out what all is screwed up under there. After it's drivable again, then worry about strawberry and fenders and crap.

I have trouble maintaining calm when someone asks if they should fix mechanical stuff over body issues. It should be blatantly obvious that if the car doesn't drive right, if at all, you need to get that worked out before even thinking about fixing the body, period.
