I always have to be so gentle starting off acceleration from a stop or else my front tires will spin and I start to lose control. Today I almost had an accident because of this, and almost pissed my pants. Oh and I have good tires too, so that's not the problem.

wtf???? how do you lose control and almost crash cuz of traction off the line??? when it rained hard over here a while back, i deliberately tried to make the car loose control to have some "fun" in an empty area and couldnt do it... had complete control the whole time.... its a FWD, you're supposed to have control in the rain and even when you loose traction, the car reacts VERY predictable... i went half throttle in my brother's mustang in the rain on a turn and was sliding sideways without the RPMs even getting high.... RWD is bad for rain and snow...

I suppose so, I'm not used to it so it scares me somewhat. But when the front end of my car started to veer into the lane next to me where another car was. I guess it's something I'll get more used to. You really don't have to be so condenscending though. Jeez

My car hydroplanes every two miles in the rain, especially in drizzling rain. It's been raining in maryland for the past two days so the roads are wet, and the places I drive, there are potholes everywhere. When my car does this, I just tap the brakes lightly and wait a second before I accelerate again to get my tires back on the road. Just dont freak out =) you'll be fine.

be carful when its "drizzling" like when the it first starts raining a little bit on dry ground, its lke ice. while the is ground dry it picks up rubber and oil from cars. so right when a little rain starts is the most dangerous and slick. once all the greese washes off then you can have fun on wet ground

My coupe does well in the rain, and earlier this week got in an ice storm and had no problems on the stock continentals. I went to Discount Tire and had the tires siped last weekend which I think makes it handle much better in wet and dry conditions. I have been having my tires siped when I get new ones for about the last 7-8 years. This is the first time I had stock tires done though.

Same thing happens to my car. Even if it's just a puddle of water.

hmmm, this must be an issue with the V6`s!?I`m not experiencing this problem with the 2.5 Coupe, YET.Maybe the million+ miles under my belt, but crappy road conditions def need paying attention to what`s going on.

on most cars when running thru a deep enough puddle will feel like you hit something and cause`s the car to momentarily change direction. FWD or RWD, I`ve had both for quite a few years... still loved the CVPI that I had.

correct, light rain makes the roads slippery as ice, oil and contaminants on the surface make it very slick.

I was surprised to see Michelin tires on my coupe. They appear to perform very well...

i have Conti`s on the Versa, they are ok, very much different than the conti`s that came on the VW MK5 back in 06.

Get better tires. You may think you have good tires, but you really might not.

What kind of tires do you have? If you have continental tires of any type that is probably why you are spinning out. I have not met a continental tire that is quality. The stock ones on the A/Cs are pitiful. My car is crippled with even 1 inch of snow on the ground. Its sad when my previous car, a 20 year old chevy corsica pos dominated the snow compared to the a/c.

I have Nankang NS-II tires. They only have 4k miles on them.

Actually, that's your problem. You have a cheaply made summer tire, using it in colder weather.

IMHO, this is not true. The conti`s that come on the VW`s, passats and other german cars are made in Germany. the conti`s made in mexico have been known to be of poorer quality.

I`ve had conti`s from germany on all of our german cars and they did exactly what they were supposed to do, handled very well with all the abs, trac control stability etc, etc, etc...

now: the Goodyears that came on the VW wagon back in the 90`s were pure crap, they were replaced with conti`s...

tires have come along way... one of the most difficult items to research comparing cost to quality...

i haven't had trouble but in crappy weather (snow, etc.) try to start in 2nd gear (is yours mt?) that helps prevent too much power put to the road and keep control, or maybe it's because you have a lead right foot lol.
