My computer is really fudged up

Ok, I need some help guys. I have Windows XP. And every time I sign on in the last 2 days, I get kicked off within 5 mins. An error message comes up telling me that some RPC thing terminated. ( I also have cable internet, so I'm always online. But when I unplug the router, the problem doesn't persist.)

The thing that that always comes up though, comes in a box with a red X sign.

Trueslide was giving me a lot of good suggestions, but I wanted to know if anyone else is having this similar problem. Because a couple of other friends are having the same exact problem, and they've been having it for the last 2 days too. I wonder if I got some kind of virus or something.
