I ran a compression test today because recently when when going into boost I would see a little smoke coming from the rear end. Results were as followed. 180,178,179,179 I double checked them and came up with the same results, because I couldn't believe that my 170,000 plus mileage motor was still ok after months of turbo abuse. So I assume that either the smoke was fuel because it runs so rich, or that the turbo has possible blown a seal, or maybe I just imagined it. Is there a way to tell if the turbo is blown? I was excited so I thought I would post this, thanks for looking.

eh..... Its a waste of time to speculate over this stuff.

I say run it until there are REAL signs of something being wrong. My car blows a lil blue smoke... You can see it on my dyno video. I have no idea what it is. I just know that it isn't compression. And occasionally its tiresmoke.

Thanks for the advice Cory, maybe it was tire smoke. I'm not really all that worried about because I realize it's a 15year old car, it's paid for , and not my daily driver.

could be your valve seals are going out so they're lettin oil into the pistons, i dun believe you can see that with a compression test.

eitherway those are good numbers for a 170k turbocharged & abused engine.

that is if the smoke was blueish.

When I pulled the #3 plug it was soaked with gasoline, so i'm thinking the smoke is coming from a bad #3 injector o-ring, dumping tons of fuel in causing it to slightly wash that cylinder out, and the end result being smoke out the tailpipe.

What oil weight are you using? It kinda sounds like you have leaky valve guids that are letting oil into your cylinders. This might account for those remarkable compression numbers too. I think 180 is new specs.

Mine are 165 160 168 170 with about 105,000 and running like a top.

How is your oil level?

I use 10w 30 castrol gtx, and have always changed it on time, my oil level is right on. 180 is factory compression.

Well, I'm stumped.
