I will be showing progress pictures of my CNC build here which will carve out my Z kit once its complete. Purposely put in the test forums so that I can link to it when the kit is finished.

Nov 21
Day 1 & 2
Bought parts; MDF wood for the table (2 piece, ~$17), 2 long threaded rods (2 for $12), bearings (so far 16 for $35), nuts , bolts, washers (so far ~$25), drill bits ($20), ladders (2 for $130), and one hollow aluminum beam($10).
Image

Nov 22 took ladder apart
Nov 23 dismantled ladders, tweaked gantry plans to correspond to parts with the least amount of cutting.

Nov 24 cut aluminum parts,

revised plans [note; comparing the movable table or movable gantry for X movement designs, the heaviest (being material on table total, or total weight of Y and Z axis combined) is recommended to being fixed (in place). ]
So the table will be the moving X axis... although this design needs more space in a small room since the table protrudes in movement when the X cuts are to the ends of X table limits..

Nov 25
X structure holes, connected X axis base, cut threaded rods to size, cut mdf wood table to size, sound proofed room and dismantled old CNC

Nov 26
Designed and started the linear skate bearing setup.

Nov 27
Drilled all linear braces

28th to Dec 3
finishing the linear track braces, constructed Z axis

Thanks I'll message you if I need help, most likely I can do everything myself.
What might be tricky is the ground pit vacuum forming apparatus I have in mind since there arent any home setups like it on the internet to see... there will be some trial and error for me ahead.

Currently Ive been changing my CNC machines design to a much simpler, reliable, and cheap off the shelf construction which yields better performance too.
I may be finished it in 3-4 days then Im going to start cutting foam pieces after.

It would be interesting if you'd also want to get into the kit business because I can sponsor all the stuff I know for you to do the same.

Also I will definitely message you once I finish the car and see if you'd like to see it in person.

Here is my latest design idea for the side... for the 3D modeling phase, parts will be copied off existing car models.

that looks excellent, i am building a tube chassis LP640 " Versace" version, i am in the Burnaby area and have a full 3000 sqft shop.
it should be ready in august of this year. if you want to follow our builds we are on the http://kitcarforums.net forum. your project would have interest there as well.
so you need the full sized vacuum machine? or just the mold/panels for it?
they are pretty easy to build, but for the size of a car panel that is a lot of vacuum.
i also make alot of molds and carbon fiber work, in case you are interested.

talk to you soon

Wow, how exciting, looking forward to joining that kit site and seeing the build.

I would like to make pieces as large as a hood and perhaps a one piece rear end (with a separated bumper).
Im thinking of using a metal hand crank fan to funnel the heat into the pit, melt the plastic down then vacuum it.
Canadian Tire has a $77 on sale propane heater which I think will do the job.

If my kit design takes off and the funds are there, a carbon edition would look great.

Its just taking long because I cant afford expensive tooling machinery so I have to make this CNC machine first. If I had the money I would change this cars face :)

I'll be merging my 3D concept design with my old prototype design for a front conversion Vigor kit... universal to all ZX cars. Second time around I'll make a full wide-body and new hatch for the 2+2 ZX only.
