My Cars Been Making A Tapping Noise!!!

I THINK ITS EITHER THE LIFTERS, TIMING CHAIN, OR VALVES...ITS A TAP TAP TAP TAP TAP TAP TAP TAP TAP TAP NOISE.. IM PRETTY MUCH COMPLETELY BROKE.. SO IS THIS SOMETHING I CAN DO MYSELF.. OR AT LEAST HOW CAN I CHECK TO FIND THE PROBLEM.. I REALLY CANT AFFORD TO GO TO A MECHANIC RIGHT NOW.. I JUST PAID 2100$ WORTH OF TICKETS..

The timing chain guide could be broken, which I believe you can just take it out since it's pretty much plastic crap. OR you could just need oil. OR it could be other things

was it just tapping when you first started it up at first, then went away in a matter of seconds or minutes? now its a constant and worse when deceleratting, mines horrible an taps/rattles all the time especialy when i slow down, its going to give soon, the timming chain that is,
