I've had this for a while now, but I'm just now to the point where I have enough rounds through it to get an impression on it. The pistol is a HK USP Compact in .357 Sig.

I bought the gun from CDNN for a screaming deal. It came with 3 10-round magazines, all .357 Sig marked unlike some whom have received .40 S&W magazines from HK.

After putting 200 rounds through it I can say that I definitely like the gun. It's almost exactly what I was looking for, and I've come to really like the .357 Sig round even more. It's quite potent, and if you are lazy with your grip control it will let you know. It has yet to have a feeding issue, but this is a trademark of the caliber, and I don't expect it to ever have an issue.

For what I paid, the ergonomics of the design in relation to my needs, and the overall experience, I give this gun very high marks.

Nice.

Andy and I toured Robar last week, that place does some amazing work.

Time for me to buy something... Kids are old enough to leave it be.

Was that the 499 special that they have? I'm still thinking about getting one except I really really dont want to get suckered into another caliber. Can that gun be easily converted to 40s&w with another barrel and using the existing mags? I know my Sig can.

If so, then I might decide to get one if CDNN still has them for sale.

er i havent seen any issues with using the 40 mags with 357 sig rounds seeing as they are the same size casing necked down... but great deal.

Bobotech id check on the H&k website and or call them and ask, I know glocks and Sigs can easily do a barrel swap to shoot the 40/357 rounds. Id imagine HK can do the same, question is how available are the barrels to the public. HK can have issues getting enough stock in to their US warehouses at times.

Ill check when im over at my dads store and see if its in the catalog tomorrow if i can.

there isn't any problem swapping mags...I'd be a little annoyed to pay 800 or so for a pistol and not get mags that match the caliber is all.

about anything that can handle a .40 +p will be fine with a .357 sig barrel.

whenever we get the rebate checks from the IRS...I'm gonna go pick up a Subcompact XD40...might look into getting a .357 barrel..

You can use the factory .357 mags. In fact, HK will sometimes give you .40 S&W marked mags with a .357 gun.

I don't see why the .40 barrel wouldn't fit, but a factory HK barrel price negates the reason for buying a .357 in the first place.
