I just bought a 94' vert. thats super clean inside and out. but over the coure of the last few weeks my car ha had trouble starting a few times. the first time this happened was when i left my lights on 1 night for a about a half hour max. my car would not start. but i dont know if it could be the battery because all the power radio and windows worked fine. it took 20 minutes to get it started and running and when i did it ran completely fine. the other 3 time it would not start were on very hot day when i drove it for a period of time then when i had it sit for a little bit i could not start it. for a few hours i tried to start it then a few times it would not turn over just got a clicking. so i let it sit for an hour then tried again and bingo just started up no problem what so ever it runs super good when im driving it but have no clue what the problem could be? can anyone or has anyone had this problem. this problem seems to occur mostly on hot days. but i dont understand because my engine does not over heat at all!!?

The clicking you are getting is from the starter not get enough juice from the battery and the solenoid clicks. This could be from the battery terminals not being tight, a bad ground somewhere, a loose wire, or your battery might be on it's way out. Your battery could also be weak from the alternator starting to go out. What I would do is take the battery, alternator, and starter up to Advance Auto and get them all tested, that way you know which components are good to go and possibly find out which could be going bad.

i think your alternator is about to take a dump if you have to rev it up to get proper voltage. Friend of mine had a similar problem. He has a voltage meter in the car and it would start to drop, but if he revved it up to 6k his voltage would go right back up to 12-13

Could be an ignition problem as well. These cars are old and the lock cylinder and piece behind it has been used many times. One of those might be on its way out as well.

alright well i got everything tested and everything was showing a strong reading on the volt meters. i've been driving the car for the last few days and have not had a problem starting it but now the car just runs really rough basically feels like it has no power when i step on the gas and feels like it is constantly cutting out . when stopped at redlights or stop signs the car is shaking very bad also, even when i first start it up it idols very rough and shakes. so im thinking this problem could be a bad injector possibly so thats what im gonna check tomorrow. hopefully thats the problem.. thanks for all the help so far guys.

Sounds like you have some dead cylinders. Turn the car on and unplug a spark plug wire (not from the coil! from the valve cover) and see if there is any change in idling. If there is, then that cylinder is working. If not, then that cylinder is not firing. From there you can troubleshoot. Spark plugs, spark plug wires, coil, distributor, fuel injector, fuel rail, etc. I've even heard of the ECU being a problem. My sister's vert used to do the exact same thing. I changed the injectors three times AND changed the fuel rail out. Also changed the wires and the spark plugs. Problem still kept coming back. I changed the ECU and it seemed to fix it.

Alright problem has been solved. krash you were right i had a dead cylinder. my injectors 1 and 3 were shot.. and after a good tune up my car is brand new again. apparently nothing has ever been replaced on the car that the old lady i bought the car off. spark plugs were also shot and needed a new coil and O2 sensor was toast as well. so im deffinitly happy with the car now runs like a dream. and thanks for everyone who gave advice you guys are great! thanks.
