I have a '95 240.......the engine cranks over......but it won't start. Can the fuel filter be the problem????? It's been trouble free until today. I have to drive to work( 20 miles) in 2 .5 hours

I got it running........i pushed the pedal down to the floor and cranked. I ran a few errands and it's trouble free again. Could it of been the fuel filter??? Does the 300zxtt filter fit on the 240sx??

The engine was probably flooded. Holding the pedal to the floor while cranking shuts the fuel injectors off. If it continues to be a problem, then you might have a leaky injector...risking a hydrolock.

Was it something i said??? No....i did not flood the engine. I did not push on the gas pedal when i tried to start it the first 20 times. It started on the last time by me pushing the the pedal to the floor and giving it one crank.

did you read what he said carefully?

anyway...it could also be your fuel pump acting up.

Leaky injectors are exactly that: leaky. When you shut your car off the fuel rail has over 30psi of pressure in it. If a seal is bad or if the injector is stuck open, it will dump fuel into the cylinder until the fuel pressure goes to 0. Gas pedal not needed.

With the limited info I have I wouldn't put money on any guess, but this is what I read:1) the car wouldn't start (the first 20 times)2) the car started right up after the normal rich fuel flow was cut off

A leaky injector is probably the most common problem that might have caused those symptoms, unless the car was driven a short distance before the problem happened.

if this problem reoccurs i recommend you check your base idle and also check your thottle body for heavy carbon around the throttle plate. base idle is checked by warming the car up to op temp. shut off disconnect the tps restart and adjust idle to around 700 rpms. shut car off and reconnect tps.
