Ok so i will start out by saying i have an 92 240sx with an auto transmission. I got the car about 2 weeks ago and have since then got the car running good. When i bought the car i was under the impression that it didn't drive b/c of a transmission prob and have since then been looking into it but with no avail. The car dosent go anywhere in any gear (no even a shudder). I checked the shifter linkage but its not it, I checked the fluid and that not it( i checked it cold). I got underneath the car and i find that there is a shield for the flywheel missing. If someone could help please do.

When you buy any used car especially one over 15 years old you must pay a expert technican to inspect and test and list the $3,000 to $7,000 in defects that caused the car to be for sale in the first place.

By using junkyard parts and qausi reliable discount store parts an expert on each model can fix it for less.

RE4R01 transmission usually only last 10 years or 150k especially without frequent ATF mainteance. The transmission usually fails in reverse first or fail safes in 3rd gear assuning the TC is working.

Use a Consult to check AT codes.

Sounds like your auto is wrecked and its not worth trying to repair it when you can get a working unit for very cheap or even free. Just try and find someone who did a 5spd swap, see if they still have the auto kicking around...........or better yet do a 5spd swap
