Hello all, I am a new 2013 M37x lease owner for less than one month.

While I was driving on normal mode, I noticed a mild forward shift in the transmission which felt odd. Then my car drops to 20 mph, not matter how much i press the gas pedal. The car feels like it's on a sleep mode. And when I try to shift the gear nob to manual, nothing happens. I pulled over and restarted the car, then everything is fine.
This has happened two times so far in one week. I had the car serviced 2 days ago after the first incident and the service rep was very nice, they said that they have "res-flashed the transmission computer". Everything worked fine until yesterday while I was driving.

there were no new warning light on my dash at all.
Has anyone had this problem at all? if so, what and how did you solve it?
I plan to have my car serviced again on Monday, it's just a hassle that I did not expect from getting a car at this price range.

thanks for all your help in advance

Welcome to Nico Club!

I read this forum nearly every day and I don't recall seeing this issue mentioned before. Hopefully, they will look deeper into the issue now that it has happened twice. Let us know how this turns out please.

sounds like your car went into 'limp mode' to protect the engine/transmission until you can get it looked at.

I wonder if disconnecting the negative battery cable will help clear the 'limp mode'....

OP--> I apologize for a little forum sarcasm, as to your problem from doing a lot reading on this forum on the previous models limp mode was usually caused by sensor failure I believe camshaft. Since you have warranty I would take it to the dealer.

I have an update. I had one more of these "limp mode" yesterday evening, and the Service Engine light came on. My car is at the dealer now, they are taking apart the transmission. I was told that they will replace some sort of shift valve or solenoid. It will take a few days.

thanks for your help, I will have another update soon and hopefully with good news.

just an update.

The service engine light came on a few days later and I took my car to the dealer. There were a lot of metal shavings and bits in the pan of the transmission when they took it out for inspection. I have been waiting for a new transmission from Infiniti since July 22. And after 5 weeks of waiting in a loaner car, I am pretty fed up with everything. I have already filed a lemon replacement and it was approved yesterday. I am at the point that I need to decide between a replacement M37x (brand new from dealer of my choice) or just a cash refund and get some other car. I was very disappointed in how things were handled with infiniti consumer affair department over all, I felt I had to force them to do everything. i have to ask for financial compensation from infiniti and they did not even bother to offer it to me in the first place.

anyways, thanks for your inputs

damn!! sorry to hear about this issue....especially on a 2013 M...? crazy...just get the new Q50 as your replacement and call it a day..... :dblthumb:

I don't think I'd get an AWD M no matter what year....that's just me. If I need an AWD car, I'd look at a different brand....

Yeah, what they said.

But sticking to what CPJ LB said; if I had to choose an AWD car, I wouldn't purchase an Infiniti. That's just me. No, I have never driven one, but in the same breath I know I wouldn't be personally interested in driving one either.

Best of luck to you in your decision and please let us know how things pan out for ya.

Just got back from the dealer having had the "Service Engine Soon" light come on I too have a 2013 M37 with just 7K miles since Jan. They told me it was a sensor giving a high temp reading. The dealer told me there is a bulletin out on it and all that was required was a software reload fix. Hearing about other transmission problems I have to wonder WTF is going on. I'll start a new thread!
