my car will not get out of park even when i push the brake in!!!

just like the title says, when i try to shift it out of park, the shifter wont move even when i push the brake in. how do i fix this? thanks

Sounds like the nuetral safty switch. Its located at the base of the shifter under the top cover. You can bypass it real easy until you replace it if thats your problem.

how do i bypass the neutral safety switch? what does it look like?

It's usually a round hole just big enough to stick your key into and on most cars usually has a plastic tab over it.

There are several components of the 'shift lock system'. Check the harness connectors; reseat if needed. Here's a picture of the various components that are located in the dash area:
