the bay as it sits, waiting for the finished Evo8 manifold, and fab work for the megasuirt setup. probably going to pull the motor this weekend to do some rust repair on the engine bay and seam welding.

Friday night right before the rain came down and the gutter where im standing broke and flooded out the entire fab room for a few hours. we made such a mess tearing out the interior

20lbs of dry ice wasnt enough.. should have got 30-40lbs would have made my weekend alot easier. this method works great !

alot of the tar and crap ripped up.

almost every bit of wiring in the s13 chassis ripped out and cut. The point of no return now ordering my fuse panels here in a min and begin designing my new chassis harness setup, this thing is going bare bones.

wire wheeling out the tar that didnt come up when i ran out of ice. also finding some rust i couldnt see before

began cleaning out the factory glue and begining the seam welding. my first attempt at mig welding thing gauged sheet metal so please excuse my piss poor welds. not my usual quality of work, im much better on the tig but didnt want to have to roll it over and do a ton of out of position work.

and last but not least... the best pliers in the word, if you work on cars alot or work in a shop and have acess to a mac guy get a set of these or all the differant sizes of these. they are called 10 to 1's or at least thats what i callem. they arent cheap by any means but i love them!

Very nice. I used a torch and a putty knife to get out my tar. That was not the easy way to do that by any means.

I can't wait to see that thing finished!

+1 for total rebuilds

when you seam weld, is it just like it sounds? going over the seams with a bead?

i wish i had the time to do it too, ive got so much work to do on it, want to have it up and running good enough to hardpark it at a local drift event on may 14th , but we shall see.

seam welding is exactly what it sounds like, im stitch welding or respot welding every place where two panels over lap or were glued/welded at the factory, hopefully it yeilds results because the prep work to get it ready to weld is very time consuming and messy. i also found a couple places where my chassis is cracked, rusted,or just plain comming apart at the seams.

the chassis harness is what has me the most worried right now, along with getting the megasquirt tuned correctly as im not a tuner, and dont know any tuners really fimilar with speed density or megasquirt.

im making templates to build a Aluminum dashboard, but i dont know if it will make it into the car depends on how it comes out.

roll cage will also be started on this weekend as soon as all the materials are delivered.

I am thinking about building a intake but i dont know enough about flow dynamics to take one on and hope it works. Ive built a few for neons but i dont know if they are going to be benificial.

ill have more pictures as soon as i get more progress going.

What are your questions?

Speed density is very easy.

might want to check the rule books of the class you wanna run, some of em require the stock dash to be inplace.

Formula D is about the only thing i would even be trying to run this car in. mybe some auto X on the weekends, im going to look into that, from what ive been told they have to resemble the stock dashboard, im only going to install it if it comes out how i have it pictured in my mind, it wont cost me anyting to make maybe 50-100$ if that.

coldspawn, my biggest worries are getting timing right, im going to have to do alot of studing to even understand tuning, ive never really gotten to into that part of the business. you have any good reading material you can link me to?

If I ever had a 2nd 240 (or another car for a daily) I would so rip out the entire everything and do just what you're doing as far as welding and rewiring.. tho I'd put the stock interior back in unless it WAS a 2nd one just for performance (but either way with added roll cage or somesuch and harness and better seats) ..

NOT a Sr for your megasquirt ignition setup, I dont remember which ignition system your going with.

For my timing its all setup by the FORD EDIS for example when I installed my trigger and VR sensor I had the missing tooth lined with the 0* TDC mark on the crank pulley which is the 2nd line from the left. When I put the crank pulley on, set the motor to 0* TDC count 9 teeth to the left and thats where my VR sensor went. After all that is said and done EDIS and megasquirt will set that as 10* BTDC its pretty much a Limp Mode setting so if megasquirt took a dump or it got disconnected EDIS would take over and set the motor to 10* BTDC to get you home.

The Tuning software allowed you to set the timing.

yeah those email adress's were the right ones, ones my personal one and ones my shops email adress.

megasquirt,

yeah im using ford EDIS, im actually going down to a local supplier to pick up a aftermarket trigger wheel thats adjustable and comes with a mount to allow it to bolt to the crank inside the pulley, also comes with a CNC aluminum VR sensor holder that i can make fit some where on a braket. i gota test fit it to make sure it will even work, if not ill be machining the pulley like yours and moving my power steering back to fit the middle belt section.

or i also have a contour trigger wheel that i can mount flush onto the front of the CA pulley with welds or bolts, ill be figuring that all out this week how im going to make it work.

motor came back out today and i began stitch welding the engine bay and repainting. also powdercoating a bunch of engine stuff, and putting on a shaved up intake manifold and taking out my butterflys. may just make a custom plenum if i get a hair up my *** this week.

for the wheel since your not using A/C you could take the trigger wheel and make the inside diameter bigger, just enough that its bigger than the P/S pulley section and mill down the A/C section of the crank pulley.

So you would get the same effect as mine but in the middle of the pulley.
