my car stinks (literally)

well no doubt about it my cars interior smells really bad. after sitting for 6 years it has a real dank stench.

im gonna rip out the carpet pading and use a container of calcium chloride as a desiccant.

id also like to purchase a steam cleaner and some non toxic cleaner so i could do both cars and have something for carpets and such afterwards .

i was looking at the bissell little green clean machine. maybe use diluted simple green.

suggestions?

The previous owner of my car smoked, and the whole interior smelled pretty bad when I got it...I replaced the stained, ripped, smelly carpet and that improved things nearly 100%. Looks like new.
