On a whim tonight, I decided to yank out my backseat and spare tire.

Removal was a breeze....except for one bolt which was completely stripped out and literally took me over a half an hour to remove. Needless to say that got thrown across the yard with a slew of inappropriate words once I finally broke the head off. :D

I weighed everything, too.

Backseat bottom - 12lbs, backseat back - 20lbs, spare tire - 32lbs. Plus the tire iron and little seatbelt clips....

Yup, weight reduction 0wnz m3. ;)

I'm gonna get some auto interior carpet to throw down over the back though...it's pretty ugly, especially with the currently unused audio wiring draped all over the place.

I'd have done another "multi-step guide" with pics, but didn't even think of it til the seat was out. Besides, there should be no excuse for not being able to figure out how to take that thing out. :oface

Good enough for me... I was wondering what the seat assembly weighed out to be.

I have an auto-x comming up sunday, and it looks like Ill be in SM. Funny as my last 4 events (one each month) will read like this after I finsih this one; NOV, STS, DSP, SM....!! I took dsp first last time around and 3 silly things kick me into SM. I suppose I could ask the other DSP driver if he minds and run dsp again if not. If he does, I will be way underprepaired for SM and must do anything to help hehe.

But I cant permanently take it out for that occasional 3rd passenger, and my own asthetic reasons.

Edit in case you dont know, in DSP (d street prepaired) one must remain all interior trim and seats, and in SM (street mod) its the same but the back seat is removable.... Oh and this months fasttrack states the removal or replacement of radio equipment is allowed but any holes, like head unit, must have a cover or guages in its place :) not like it matters but still...

I've squished people back there.

And actually, before I bought the car, I was occasionally squished back there. Sucks. :)

i will never again ride in the backseat of a 240sx. it is comfortable if you aren't really really tall, and the person in front of you isn't real tall and can scoot their seat up. s14 seats at least, are bucket and comfy

If you take out your sound deadening material you lose 36lb All of the AC and heating stuff weighs around 65lb, and the big metal bumper protector that helps you not die if you get in an accident is 25lbs
