Guys, I need some help. I have been getting my car together for almost 8 months. I started out with a 1989 240sx hatch shell in NOV. I wanted to put the car together. You know start from the ground up. Well after stressing about what engine and goods to get. I decided to get an SR20DET. Well thats another story. I bought the engine from Pacific Motors in GA. (770-986-7888). Please dont call these people. Read further to understand.

Well it was taking to long to get the hatch together, so I decided to find another car. I found a 1990 coupe 5sp. for 1200 with 73,000 miles. I met with the guy and stole it for 800 cash. It was steel. I never drove a 240sx before. I always heard about the power. I was impressed just with the base ka254d engine. This was the car to do the swap with. So I took the car to Finishline Motorsports in GA. Those guys are pimps. They know what to do. So they started swapping the engine. Turns out the engines turbo is blown, the ecu is f@#ked up, and the wiring harness work was done wrong. Oh yeah and the engine kept getting out of timing because there was missing screws inside were the cam gears are at. I guess they had Rocker arm stoppers and took them out. Im stressed more than anything right now.

Well the car is getting done soon I hope.I need a turbo now. If anybody has one for sell let me know. I up for anything. Lets talk business. I would love an upgraded t28 so I dont have to buy much.

Oh and about Pacific Motors. They s#$K D$%k. Dont buy from them. Just buy a clip from someone whos been doing it for a while. Trust me.............................

That real easy to say. I wish I was that simpled minded. Well I like to get things at a good price. Sometimes you win, and sometimes you lose. I think I have lost more than won.

I still need a turbo...

my car took almost 2 years to complete.

As far as Pacific goes, I've had good luck with the few motors and trannies I have bought from them.

Not really, only horror stories i hear are from people who take their buisness to unreputable shops despite the hundreds of warnings posted on here and other sites. Mine has taken along time because i decided to rebuild alot of my motor and i have never done it before. Success so far. And i hear lots of lots of sucsessful swap stories in the SR section all the time.

I have a T25 and probably let it go for 150 or so, hold good boost, steady at 14 psi until redline. Email me if you are interested.

I'm glad I've decided to stick with the KA... SR has great power and the engine is hot, but I would kill myself if that happened.

there horror stories are pretty rare, think about how many success stories there are. It's just people pay more attention to bad news so the horror stories stick out more.

I know ive seen enough posts on here about people being sold bad engines, waiting for a motor for over a year, and losing all their money from vendors. I know there have been numerous successes, but Ive never heard of someone getting screwed by doing KA-T... the engine is already in the car :D But im not hating the SR, I just wouldn't want to go through the hassle. Im just paranoid and lazy. Oh and poor

i understand. Everything has there pro's and cons. This is just one of the japanese engines possible hassels, like reliability and ultimately price are possible problems for a ka-t set up. I was just hoping this wouldn't skew anyones view on either engine set up.

i worked on my car for about 10 months and the only problems i had were with damn stuck bolts but i just bought some impact tools and a compressor and then everything sped up. my engine started almost on the first try. the fuel pump wasnt plugged in all the way, so i plugged it in and it started. ive been driving it for the past 5 or so days and had no problems at all. got the engine from enjuku.
