I'll just dive right into it. I diconnected my battery for one hour today to try and reset the ECU and see if it would help with my overdrive on/off light that always blinks when I start the car. When I reconnected the battery and tried to start the car I got nothing at all. Now for the weird part.

When I turn the key the car beeps twice and the parking lights as well as the gauge lights blink. Then after a minute or so of this my car doors lock. I somehow managed to start the car once during all of this but thats it. Heres the modified electrical system as far as I know up until this happened.

-Aftermarket alarm system(was dissarmed before I got it, but the hardware is still inthere)-Revolution sensor disconnected(By P.O.)-Sleepy eye mod(brown wire in manual headlight harness disconnected)

I hope this is enough information for someone to shed some light on this very odd event. Thank you very much in advance and I really need help with this guys, please.

From what your saying I would bet the ranch it's the old alarm system giving you problems. Lights flashing, doors locking...yeah...it's got to be with the old alarm system. Not being able to start your car, sounds like the alarm is disabling your starter as well. I would carefully start pulling that aftermarket crap out...will most likely be a very big headache but I'm guessing it will fix most if not all of your problems...electrical that is. Maybe another member can chime in and give their 2 cents. Good luck!

Older cars always seem to have some electrical gremlins, my DD is a VW golf and that thing is the worst when it comes to wiring issues. Sorry I cant help, hopefully someone with more electrical know how will. Good luck.

I'm pretty sure thats it too. Can anyone tell me what all an aftermarket alarm is spliced/wired/hooked into?

Hopefully it's a plug and play alarm system, where you can just unplug everything and plug your OEM harnesses back together...if not your going to spend a few nights tracking down, cutting out old wiring, re-splicing and soldering a ton. If it's spliced into your harness I would highly suggest soldering, heat shrinking and taping all your connections (not just using crimp style butt splicers) or you will have problems down the road.

Few years ago I helped a friend take out an old alarm system...sheesh...we should have just bought a brand new complete harness for his truck. But hopefully yours isn't that bad.

But to try and answer your question, where to start...I would remove the lower dash panel under your steering column and start there...looking for the alarm control box...could be closer to the ECU behind the glove box and behind the passenger kick panel as well. Also check in the engine bay...no telling where some folks mount them. All I can say is good luck...if you have questions about anything take some good pics and post them up...maybe we can help you more that way.

Well it looks as though I got to the source of the problem and my car is now fixed. It took a while but what I did worked. It was a complicated process of FLICKING THE ALARM SWITCHTO OFF! Thats right, crazy I know, but I FLIPPED THE ALARM ON/OFF SWITCH TO OFF!

What can I say, it's a classic Griswald moment.

This f*cking car is giving me so many electrical problems its nuts, not to mention all the other things wrong with it. I know why Nissans are so much easier to work on than Toyota's...They need to be user friendly for all the s*** that breaks on them.
