First of all I would like to apologize for such a long post. Here are my MANY problems going on in my 93 240sx KA24DE (bone stock).

Problem 1:When I let my car warm up it dies after it hits normal operating temp. Then I can start it up and it starts right away. then after a minute or so it dies again.

Problem 2:When I push in the clutch to stop at a stop sign/light it dies. It doesn't rattle or shake or anything, it just doesn't stop to idle. it just drops to 0.

Problem 3:car idles funny, almost like the idle of a car with a blower , the up down up down kind of idle. but the rpms only change in a range of like 50-100 RPM.

Problem 4:It is running rich.

Problem 5:the timing light says that it is around 25-26 degrees and it is maxed out to one side on the dist. adjustments. I tried moving it over a tooth on the dist. and it wont even start.

Here is what I have done to the car:I have replaced the headgasket, instake gaskets, exhaust gaskets, fuel filter, oil change, sparkplugs, and new gas.

I did all of those changes and got the car running. it had all of the problems but the first 2 listed above. then I replaced the alternator with a brand new one that I had lying around (2 months old) and then problems number 1 and 2 started occurring.

The spark plugs were pretty fouled out after cranking it a million times while trying to get it running right. I cleaned them but didn't replace them. could that cause a problem?

Again sorry for the novel of a post, but I NEED to get this engine running good enough to pass smog. If you can help with any of these problems it will be GREATLY appriciated. Thank you.

Possibly an injector that is stuck open?

check coolant temp sensor(since you say the car dies after warming up), recheck spark plugs, recheck timing(set everything to tdc, the crank, the dist and if you pop the valve cover then check the cams if they're pointing out while setting to tdc), adjust iacv while cheking timing to get 700 +-50 rpm idle.

Funny idle could be due to your timing being advanced like it is. Try and raise your idle to something like 1500, just to see if it will hold steady.

sounds like what was wrong with my car. it did the exact same stuff. for starters, definately replace the coolant temp sensor, that seemed to make a differance. you might want to try raising the idle a little bit to try to get it to stop stalling at lights (this is more of a quick fix but it actually worked for a while on my car). in my case, these problems were all the result of a bad engine rebuild. the person who did it (the previous owner) removed the timing chain guides and as a result the chain skipped a tooth or two. you may want to also try changing the o2 sensor. i did this on my car and it seemed to help a little.

I only told him to raise the idle to see if it'll steady at a higher rpm. It could be erratic at a lower rpm because the timing is advanced as it is.

yeah what he said. it will run smoother at a higher rpm because of the timing. it could also definately be the maf. that completly slipped my mind.

I suggest jumping it a tooth again. Make sure the rotor doesn't pop off. Mine did, and I was 1/3 of a rotation out. That was once nasty fire when it fired. Scared me to death.

Also, make sure you're not 180* out. It's happened to a friend of mine.

I finally finished school, I HATE FINALS WEEK!!!!! So I finally got some time to work on my car and I figured some of my problems out. I replaced the spark plugs, oil change, radiator flush, radiator cap, and the coolant temp sensor. I drove the car around and it doesn't die now. It also idles a lot smoother. The timing issue is about the same, its around 23 degrees now. And I will play around with that more later. The running rich problem is still there too, but I figure that this is from the timing issue. Thank you everyone for your help.
