Slowly but surely, things are looking better and better for my car, considering the problems with it when I bought it, and more so after the alternator was grounded out...

The engine wiring harness has been replaced, and now I have a working dome light, power antenna, digital clock, and cigarette lighter (which had to be wired up as well).

The speedometer, seatbelts, and blower motor still don't work, and I have yet to get the fuel, tach, and engine temp. gauges to work (didn't when I got the car). The fuse box and accessory harness are next to be replaced...

Other things that have come along: dohc throttle cable (which doesn't go over the valve cover), a soopa tyte JDM 180sx fuse box cover (haha), the correct hood prop and boot so it can stay under the hood instead of in my hatch, the fuel filter bracket, a new clutch fan (painted black woohoo...the old one was about shot...but hopefully an electric one is on the way)...rubber stoppers for the gaping holes in the hatch (where the spare would go)...

Some other stuff I am forgetting...small things, but small steps closer to having a complete car...thanks to my wonderful boyfriend!

lookin good, like its owner engine compartment looks great. I went to your cardomain site and It said the car had an RB20 in it. Just wondered if that's what it had when you got it, and if you took it out why?

Yep. I saw the car with that motor in it now, and I'm assuming it's not tuned because it was pretty damn slow...

A tuned RB 20 in a 240 will throw you back quite nicely.

Hitting full boost and being pinned to my seat will always be a fond memory of Justin's car (Project240)

Hey Brit it sounds like you are having almost every problem my friend had when he got his SOHC swapped for a DOHC. We were gonna fix it then it was killed by a mail truck.

It's looking good. Good wax and shine and it'll be dead sexy.

Er...elaborate on the car death, Skwerel?

Well man basically after my friend waited 5 ,months to get his car running again he drove it for a month. Then he was coming around a curve and a mail truck hit him head on. Shortened the car by a two feet. So he went through hell and then lost the damn thing. He has now completly turned against Nissan as of his past experinces. He had a Z32 that cost him 7 thousand or so in repairs. Then all the crap with this 240. He has recerted back to Toyota. He picked up another AE86 for a couple hundred bucks.

Man, I HATE it when someone gets a load of crap Nissans and then hates the whole company. I also hate to see someone go ever to the dark side. Especially from Nissan.

Well he had a really well modded 86 model Corolla GTS. He sold it because he wanted something newer. He regreted it afterwards. So that put a stigmatism on the 240. Then all the crap went down and he said **** it. So he is back to Toyota. I like the little 86's, but I prefer the 240sx. I am a Nissan man so we will ocassionally have arguments on the brand. Honestly though I love Toyota they make some awsome cars. I just like Nissan more.

Ahh. The old Corrollas (the rear drives like the AE86) were good cars. I still wouldn't take one over a fairlady--especially not a Z32. But then...I haven't had the issues with one that he has.

Either way...that sucks about the car death--er...murder.

one80sxy - Congrats on sticking with your project. I'm sure one day it'll be show worthy.

As for the AE86. I owned one for over three years and loved every minute of it. I sold it to my buddy who's drifting / AutoXing. Now I'm looking for a base model S13 coupe (no sunroof or power options except steering / brakes) for my next project. I'm hoping to get one within the next year, then the fun starts!!! Can't wait.

BTW, my choice to go Nissan is primarily because it's a newer car with independent rear.

Why no sunroof. It doesn't affect chassis rigidity THAT much, and is much more fun.

I got no sunroof, no power options...although my car is listed as an SE...it said it had power mirrors, but they must have gotten dumped at some point...oh well, I'm happy with my baby!

I prefer Nissan over Toyota only because Toyota seems to be digging its grave...all their good cars (Supra, MR2, Celica) all out of production...and I'm not diggin the Scion thing...tC's are alright, but still no Supra.
