my car is slowly turning into a ricer beast. my dad got me a body kit for my birthday and my hood is really messed up and i found a cheap carbon one on ebay that was too good of a deal to pass up (320$ shipped)

Sheesh. Rice is completely objective.Plain and simple: if you like it, do it. If not, then don't. f*** everyone who says otherwise.
Case in point: I don't like most body kits, namely because of that gaudy, mouth-like opening on the front bumper that look as though it's able to swallow your house. But I wouldn't try to convince to to take it off because it's not my place.

hey, if you're legitimately getting a carbon fiber hood (your current one is jacked, you are lightening the car all around, etc), then who cares. if you want to be really anti-rice about the hood, get it painted.
I think as a car community, we're getting all worked up over what is rice and what isn't. As long as it is aesthetically pleasing, who cares? I saw this car that I couldn't even tell what it was originally, but he had removed the rear lights and trunk lid, and had made his own tail lights that were slanted slivers. Very awesome, IMO, even though the car was still primered. Alot of people would have called that rice, but I called it unique.

Does this logic, or the logic that "It's your money, spend it how you want and do what you want to your vehicle" extend to people that sit there at a stoplight in rush hour traffic with their windows rolled down and their system so loud that I cant have a conversation in the car next to them with my windows rolled up? I'm sorry but you can take anything to the extreme and just because you spent the money on something for your vehicle, does not mean you have the right to push your likes and dislikes upon others. In my opinion, this also extends to the looks of your car, if it looks like a hideous piece of horse **** and it has flashing lights, blue led's all over it etc. then its gone too far and you are now pushing your likes and dislikes upon me, which is something I have a problem with when they suck so much. Nathan: I completely agree with the sound system thing. But no one's likely to get a consensus, and never will. If I saw ALOT of NICOnauts' cars, I'd immediately think "rice." It's just how I am. (I hate fartcans, no matter how much you paid for them or how many "Apex" or "HKS" stickers there are on them.)
Same applies to alot of people's "systems." We have an entire forum dedicated to it. There's no real point to having more than maybe ONE 12" sub (max). But, lo and behold, plenty of people invests thousands upon thousands on stereo equipment that only serves to annoy others and make their old PoS rattle like a spray paint can. (This doesn't apply to those who have those particpate in those homeboy sound competitions. While it seems about as intelligent and fun as sticking your **** in a blender, different people: different strokes. Just don't think you're "competing" on the street, because I do keep a bat in my back seat.)
As far as cars being so hideous as to make a blood vessel in your brain pop, I'll usually have a good laugh at their expense (Often audibly and so they can see my friends and I -- ricers hate being laughed at.) and forget about it before the next stoplight. All I have to do is look away and it's gone.
