so i have my 89 fastback up on the lift at my friends shop while im putting my motor back in. First bad thing happens whenI go to put on the nuts on the motor mounts and i see that there both broken. Then im checking my exhaust and i see a hole in my frame by the gas tank.I knew i had some body rust around the rocker panels, but now my frame is rottingI have been saving money for some time now and i was about to do the sr swap from Heavy Throttle into my car. Now i have this car with rot on the frame and it still needs some body work/paint. So give me some ideas. Im working with about 6 grand, but i can keep saving more if i need to.

1) new shell 2) 90-96 300zx TT3) Newer 240sx in mint condition rock stock(97-98)4) buy a moped and say F@#% it.5) OTHER....Any ideas would be helpful

I would take it to a frame shop and ask their opinion. I'm not too sure if its screwed or not (depending on the size I suppose)

your f--ked. a friend of mine had the same problem. if you take it to a frame shop they will be able to box the frame but that will not stop the onslaught of rust.......the rust will win. just fine a shell from somewhere like arizona or some place away from snow and water. then drop in the sr

you can always have the rusting parts replaced altogether... lol but that'll take a bit more change

i had the same damn problem recently. i bought an 89 hatch and was going to drop in the ka24de. i had big plans for this car. so one day i began feeling bored and i went out to the garage to begin the swap when i saw somthing that made me cry. my entire frame from front to back was m.i.a.so i said f-it and pushed the car out to the curd and am now parting it out.but the thing that really bothers me is the car had 74k on it and the body is perfect along with the interior.so the best thing to do is just stop dropping your dimes into it and begin the painfull search for a new money pit good luck ,mike

Somethings are just not worth the time, money and/or effort. No offense but it's not some super rare collector car that would warrant a frame resto. I say pick your battles and this one isn't it.
