my car has 2 mufflers???

ok so i heard something hitting the ground today stoped the car and check it was just some ice ... but then i notice my car has 2 mufflers?... is this normal for the 89 240s?..... it goes cat 2 feet of piping mufflers couple more feet of piping and the normal muffler spot .... or is the thing between the cat and muffler not realy a muffler?

normal. dealer calls it a "pre-muffler" just makes the car quieter

Yes, Stock exhaust has two mufflers

i know the back if full muffler for sure .. the midle one is about 10 inch long 10 inch wide 4 inch thik and the tubing is ofset by 2 inch approx

Yes the SOHC KA24e has two mufflers stock. The owner before me modified it I guess from a muffler shop. He cut that part of the 2nd muffler and welded a straight pipe on it. Other people were wondering why my car was louder than stock. Didn't find out till one of my hangers broke and jacked it up. That was before I bought an Injen intake for it. Then it was really loud lol.

mine had a glasspack put in the first mufflers spot when I got it... Now its all straight out the back, someone recommend me a muffler that is quiet, drone free, and cheap...

I've had magnaflow mufflers on two of my previous cars, and to me they are perfectly quiet when they need to be, and sound amazing when you get on it. Never heard any negative news on them.

My resonator was rusted and had a hole, so it was making whistle noise when I hit the gas. Welded a straight pipe there and now it sounds awsome.
