I think they would get 19 - 20 for it. What did they give you for it?

I like the power of the cobalt ss but still.

So you got 18500 for your 2.5 and bought a car for 24-26$ + taxes and all the other crap, looking prolly at the 30K range.

I dont know how much you owed on the 2.5AC but with a bad economy you should be saving not spending, but I don't know if you have $$ out the wazoo.

ower !=our

and dnasty88, a cobalt ss seems like a pretty cool car... although i'm not sure if taking a hit (if in fact you did) was worth it over a chevy cobalt, turbo or not.

sedan or coupe? and what kind of potential does this ss have that would draw you to it?

then i dont see where it waS A bad idea.. that one got a good 260hp plus its turbo so throw in a 3" exhaust and a boost controller and an intake and ur on ur way to 300. doesnt sound like a bad choice.

What is the finally price of the SS? What is your price difference between SS and your trade?

Cobalt SS Turbo is a nice teen car. Make sure you upgrade to a bigger BOV so people will know it's a turbo. Gotta love the sound of BOV!!!

I already said it before and I'll say it again. ecotec turbo engine plus two tone interior = ungodly amount of win.

if it's the coupe one then it already has the awesome gtr style rear, plus that crazy STI style spoiler is soo much sex.

your choice, I approve of it.

you went from a 2.5S to this so it's an awesome upgrade

cobalt was 22300 ish with limited slip and sun roof. i dont care bout the sound. i dont care what other people think either. this thing would be able to beat or be real damn close with my brothers z in a quarter if i could drive. (best quarter of my car is 13.6 stock, edmunds rated at 14.0, and the z is 13.6-13.8) so its okay in my book

I think you have had to own a crappy american car to understand. I am sure they are built better now, but my 1989 corsica(first car) sure was somthing, and not good lol.

as Dangeris stated, made in and assembled in are two very different things.. OUR (not ower) cars are not made in America!

WOW , 18,500 for the trade, I wonder if that was the Actual Cash Value(ACV)? The Dealership here only wanted to give me 18,000 for my 3.5SE, thats when I decided to try to sell it on my own.

BTW- I think you will really enjoy the SS. Good choice.

this thread makes me laugh everytime I read it.... and hearing comments from folks that live in Canada that have never driven or owned an American car but drool over engines makes me laugh even harder.

And ANYONE that buys a car in 2009 from a failing car company is just asking for problems. Companies fail for a reason, and its not because the bosses are stealing from the company, itsbecause their products are $hit and noone wants to buy them.

The Chevy cavalier has always been a bottom of the rung POS car, and rebadging it and giving it a new motor doesn't change anything. Please folks, by all means, continue discussing it so I can keep laughing

first of all i dont recall asking ANYONE for opinions other than if the dealership would get what there asking for my altima.

yeah company is in trouble. i bet over half of you fly with bankrupt airlines. so why does it matter who I decide to buy my car from. they all do the same basic thing and get you from a to b.

changing the motor does change anything? are you high? that and the transmission are the two main things that drive a car. so im pretty sure it changes about 75 percent of anything.

the car costed me no more than 24000 with all financing fees etc etc included. i happen to think the altima is a very poor quality car for the amount of money you pay for it.

the cobalt ss stock will outrun a stock 2.5 3.5 cvt 6mt any day of the week, and i guarentee it will out handle it. for the price its a damn good and fast car.

Please do not generalize. My family has owned nothing but American, and a Korean car, I broke tradition, bought an 07 camry, gave it to my mother when I bought my Altima Coupe. I know the problems we had with American cars, let me say I am not interested ever dealing with that crap. My father loved Chrysler and lets just say with the cars we have owned I am not surprised no one is buying their crap. I give the ecotech props but I am not interested any of the big 3 with the exception of GM's Cadillac and Corvette.

That being said I agree, I would not be caught dead in the SS, sure its quick but its ugly and that spoiler that it comes with is hideous and . Sorry not my cup of tea.

dnasty88 good luck with your cobolt hope its everything for you the AC was not.

with $24K, you can basically get a brand new 08 350Z (msrp: $31K) I actually bought an used 350Z with 5K miles for $21K.

6 cylinders > 4 cylinders ! 6 ftw!

I will never buy American cars in my life just because I know how they are...

i definitely like the 350z more toodownside is no back seat..thats why i didnt get one over my coupenone the less i love it and always drive my friends when i can

but on the 6>4 cylinders thats definitely not always right its not all about the size of the engine theres some 4's that will crush v6's

no, my cost of 24000 is with all interest included. My brother has a base 350z and with all financing and interest the loan was 30.

my car was 22300, then i got 2000 from my trade after the difference, so 20300 + upgraded warranty + interest was 24,xxx. youll never get a z for that much.

dude, until you actuallu drive an American car and have something other than reviews to base your opinions, keep em.. you're making yourself look even dumber!

Dude, IDGAF whether you asked my opinion or not, I'm commenting since you kleep posting these dumb a%% threads about your wack a%% cobalt..

I didn't but my car because it was the fastest thing on the road, I never claimed it was. I'm not a speed junkie, so I could care less about which car outperforms another car by a few tenths of a second

THE CHEVY CAVALIER LOOKS LIE A$$!! TH CHEVY COBALT LOOKS EVEN WORSE! I don't care if the cobalt goes 0-60 in 3 seconds, it still looks like $hit. And its from a $hitty company thats on its knees begging to survive. You and Mchedaddi can keep stroking the esotec engine all you want, but it doesn't change the facts

And you think you've seen cheap... wait til a year or so when the inside of the car starts falling apart, the stiching becomes undone, the cheap handles break, and you find out exactly what a bottom of the line chevy really is.... Talk about overpriced... the only thing good in the car is the engine.. YOU my friend just paid 24K for a btoom of the rung Cavalier...... Kepp em coming.. I'm falling out of my chair laughing at you as we speak

Whew, this thread is getting quite heated.

On topic: I'm sure it's more or less just the dealer's asking price. Used cars are often negotiated about before the price is settled so I can't see the dealer managing the sale at the sticker price, especially at this economic state.

Off topic: When you post a thread in an online forum, you don't really have to "ask" for other people's opinions. It's called a forum because it's a place for people to discuss etc. Clashing opinions are bound to happen, but as soon as a thread is open, unless a mod locks it up I think it's fair game.
