I have a 90 240sx hatch with a 91 KA24DE. I waas trying to start the car yesterday to go to work but I didn't bother. The day before it was cranking real slowly like it needed more power but it still went on tho. All the lights go on. This morning I tried jumpstarting it but it wouldn't start at all. You guys have any idea what the problem might be?

does the engine try to turn over or do you just get a click noise? when my battery died in my 90 it wouldnt turn over and when i tried jumping it i had to have my friend rev his car for like 5 min then my car barely started.

if it was your alternator, then she should still jump start. Sounds like you battery is gone. Will the accessories and light come on with the jumper cables hooked up?

All the lights go on without the jump... But the car won't turn over tho. I will try reving the other car for a while like you did. Hopefully it works.

To find out if it's your battery is low, best way is to get a multimeter:

I believe cars won't start under 10v. Do this test w/o jumper cables.

Once the car starts, the battery level should be between 13-14v w/o jumper cables. This means your alternator is working. If it is whatever it was before jumper cables, your alternator is not charging your battery.

Easy test: take your friends battery and put it in your car for a little while, just for starting purposes, that will eliminate that right away.

-----------------------

If you are getting 12v on the battery and the car is turning slow, your starter may be dying. Have some crank the car while you take a pipe/bat and tap the starter. If it starts, your starter is bad.

-----------------------

How old is the battery? Have you done anything electrical w/ the car lately before this happened (i.e. install fog lights, hid's, etc). It can also be a loose connection or bad ground coming to/from the starter.

Don't forget that if the battery doesnt have enough current it wont start the car either.

^^^^ the battery only has current when its getting charged by the alternator.... so check battery voltage with DVOM
