My ca18det overheating HELP PLEASE!!!

Well heres the story,

My car had a flat battery and when i jumped it it kept starting then dieing (it couldnt maintain idle) after a while it finally idled but i could smell a electrical smell. When i drove it it came to normal temp then the temp gauge started flicking up and then a bit down and then up really fast to almost red only when under load. It also had lost tons of power and the auto box wasnt changing as it should. It has water and oil and is a reasonably fresh engine. Please help if you know whats going on. Thanks

Sounds like a lot of problems that could be cause of one culprit. Which one though.

Have the cars diagnostics run somewhere... Maybe Autozone if you have one nearby.

From your description it will be impossible to help you fix the problem without some codes... otherwise youd be changing out everything from the MAF to the ECU.
