Hey all, figured id let you know my progres on my buildmy 89 nissan 240sx coupe.I finished the swap last february and drove it around for a lil more than a year.As of march of this year my car went down for a rebuild. The compression was really low and and the motor wasnt really in best health.

The head in its unhealthiness, maybe a lil burnt valve action :-/

intake ports on head

mmm mm good

Sexy CP pistons that now reside inside the block yaaaay!!!!

Since then, I have purchased some parts and made some progress. The short block is done and all back together. Bored.020 over, decked the block, turned the crank, internally balanced rotating assembly and alot of money later VOILA!

I also just purchased a Ebay intercooler kit for an S14 with and SR20det, being that this supposed to work on ca18det cars no problem because of the design of the intake manifold.

Good ole "jdm sports" tube and fin FMICThe picture said it was bar and plate but oh well what can you do, it will work.

I have alot of work to do yet and more parts to buy. keep you updated.

Tommorrow head work will be gettin started.I will be purchasing Head studs and Jim wolf technologies valve springs.

I'm shooting for the beginning of september, not a stone cold deadline though, as some of you know deadlines just frustrate the build.

SOOOOO...Friday night at 925pm i got the car running. That same night at approximately 530 am it drove under its own power. I had to put the rear end back in and driveshaft took a lil while, that mutha ****as heavy in the early morning hours.

Buuuut any way, Lets do some catch up.Where we last left off I had found out my head was more messed up than i thought. Well I lapped the valves in myself and dissembled and re-assembled the head...The hardest thing i have ever done. I had to buy a $72 tool from tool crib and it still took me 4 hours to put it together. The lifter sits soooo far down in the head with the heavt duty jim wolf valve springs it was damn near impossible to get the keepers on the valves, a lil Vaseline and patience i didnt even now i had and volia. Awesome learning experience.Tada!!!

a lil home brew port job ;-)

some extra cheeze on this picture, putting it on the block exciting day for me

The block with a brand new copper sprayed head gasket :-)

ANNND I gots me a Engiiinne

Sooooo a few weeks went by and i got it all togetherPURPLEY GOODNESS what what

lil under engine pic of my set up

Lookin mean grrrr

Its gonna be a donut machine HEHE... Welded diff action

Ill be sure to post some vids of it running and what not soon.

is that short intake pipe from the MAFS to the turbo not causing you any problems? Often having it that close to the turbo can make it read falsely.

Thanks every body i appreciate it, now only if i could get this thing to run right...I had it running fine then it wants to act all stupid and not stat it'll run but only off two cylinders (3 and four) its getting fuel but not spark, its really quite irritating. Any help would be awesome.

Not sure i haven't got into boost but i will keep an eye on that, i believe the rule is something like six inches away from the turbo.-chris

Had similar problem after my ca swap. Turned out my igniter was not feeding the spark signal to the coil. Igniters are all over ebay, you can get one and hopefully solve the problem.

yeah it sounds like an igniter. Try another one and let us know how it goes for you.

As others have said, try the ignitor first. It's the most likey. Also, I would move it away from the exhaust if possible.

Heat + Electronics = FAIL

Thankyou.

Oh tried another igniter, that wasn't the problem...The problem was somehow, my gap of my plugs was way off.018 ish, i could barely get the plugs on the gapper. lol. I'm Special.
