Well, Nissan has always had a thing for naming casrs by displacement abroad.
Take the S30 240Z. Sold in Japasia as a Fairlady Z, and is to this day. We got it as a 240Z because it had a 2.4l I-6. The 240SX is called such because of its 2.4l I-4. So, since the S13 came with a SR in Europe as a motor option, it was called the 200SX (same for Australia). Now, due to international tax laws, in certian markets (Europe and I beleive some parts of Asia as I understand that many nations in that region follow displacement based taxation laws) the car came simultaneously with a 1.8l (CA18DET...which could be had until either 1995 or 1996 IIRC, in Europe) or the SR20DET. Also, remember that the S13 was introduced in Japan in 1988 as both S13 and RS13 chassis (Silvia and 180SX respectively), therefore the original moniker of "180SX" came from the fact that it was powered by the CA18DET (as was the S13, but I digress...) So, there ya go.
Nice car BTW. Congrats on the swap
