Well as u guys already notice it getting colder and colder every passing minutes. and every morning when i wake up do my things and try to start my car ...its getting harder and harder to start it....it take me 2-3 tries and then i have to tap on the gas just to keep it alive..well for about 30 sec then it will idle on it self. What can I do to make this better?? I heard that some of u guys are having the same problems. what do u do?? I check the ecu for codes...nothing "55" normal.

Also! almost lost my engine this morning " came back from class pop the hood and the E-fan was not on!!! the ground wire was disconected...I was like Whaaa!! I'm lucky it was cool this morning and it didn't over heat. I'm also having Boost spike problems, I'm seeing 10-14 psi @ 4k and my EBC is not even connected.. so no rev over 4k for me til i figure out what the !@#$#$% is going on. Haaaahhha.. just bitchin. well, your aacv and other seemingly useless cold start stuff is probably stuck partially open/closed. mine was. i dont think there is another one you can put on it from a usdm car, so i would just try and see how much you can fix it by prying on it with a screwdriver or something. thats what i did anyway. as for the boost spike problems, i dont know what to tell you... check your vacuum lines for leaks and cracks.. if theres a leak in the line going to the actuator, it will bleed off some pressure and youll get a boost spike. either that or it just has to do with the cold weather... dont know why though.

is the aacv the assembly on top of the intake manifold with the green solenoid? i took mine apart and tried to clean it and lube anything i could, my car bucks and sputters when its cold starting real bad.has anyone done a write up on cleaning these and getting them unstuck. could my solenoid be shot and not working at all?

ok i was lead to believe it was the aacv, but i think the problem is within the air regulator, located next to the upper radiator hose u will see it. i am in the process of working on that right now see if that fixes the problem, wish me luck!

i think i got it fixed, after a few minutes with the air regulator i freed up the rotating disc and lubed it up with electrical contact lubricant. the car started up and idled at 1100-1200 rpm its never before done that when it was cold, and i drove it and it didnt sputter for the most part, it had a few slight ones here and there but not rough and crazy like before. later i parked it and then got back in and it was perfectly fine where normally it would have just sputtered and bucked untill it warmed up.

thats the thing i was thinking of!! not the aacv, but that air regulator thingy. sorry about that guys. i promise i wont be as useless when i get my car down here. just apply everything i said about the aacv to the air regulator thingy by the upper radiator hose.

I was gonna let you know you were stupid Tim, but you corrected yourself so I'll let it go. :biggrin But yes, it's the air regulator and generally that is the cause of cold start problems. Mine was actually stuck open and so it started great when it was cold, but wouldn't idle down below 1100rpms, regardless. I tried to unstick it, but it wouldn't budge. I finally found a replacement one that would work from a US car, (I think it's from a Sentra w/an SR) but it's gonna take some modifications to get it to work as the plug isn't the same as the CA one.

Oh, and incase you guys care, the way that it works is that there is a bi-metal film attached to a shutter valve inside the unit. When cool, it is in the normally Open position, which allows extra air into the manifold. The unit is tied into the electricity going to the fuel pump. When the car is started electricity is sent to the unit which heats a heater that is inside the unit. The heat cause the bi-metal film to rotate. The rotation closes the valve and shuts off the extra flow the the intake, which inturn lowers the idle.

KA-E or KA-DE? And if so, how did you get past the problem of it being designed to be attached to the manifold?
