ok so i picked up my motor the other day for 1500 out the door with the following:

-motor-transmission-ecu-harness-ignitor-MAF-downpipe-gauge cluster-and all the **** bolted to it.

so got most done today, i got the motor in and bolted up, driveline proved to be a pain the in ***, i had to dissaemble it into 3 pieces... now that its all back together i went to roll it out of the garage and there was SOOOOOOOO much drag on everything the car barely rolled and made a horrible growling\grinding\wurring noise... any suggestions on that??

also another issue is my power steering ****, i have the 91-94 hard return line on there but i have yet to get the high pressure line from a 91-94 so im trying to make my 90 line work, has anyone done this before?? and does anyone know where i can find a high pressure line? i went to autozone and looked at one and it had the banjo fitting on it but the threaded 14mm side was female and had a T so there was 2 holes..

also i got my factory KA ac compressor to work by running a 2 ribbed belt instead of a 3 rib, it bolts right to the CA bracket.

ill be attatching photos in a while. i have a few more photo questions that need answerin

and about how long did it tak yous guys to do the wiring on your motors? i was wondering if i could have it done in about 2 hours

well ill update in a while with pics

*updated*

engine is finally in

intercooler

ac setup with 3 rib belt

now for my question

wtf is this???

it comes from the intake mani and T's into something else and just is open on front of the car where the raditor would be?

any info?

ps excuse my typing, my hands are dead from working on my pile all day

My car came with a CA, so I wouldn't know how long it takes to wire up. Good luck with that. The pros should chime in shortly. Hopefully everything works out for you.

your "wtf is this" is the air supply for your AAC, you need that, it should go to your piping if you are using the side mount. If you look on the big end of your plastic intercooler pipe that crosses over the radiator, the part that goes to the rubber pipe that goes to the throttle body, look beside it, should be a 1" nipple, that goes there.

edit: Usually I take my high pressure 89 240 steering lines to a local hose shop here and they modify it for me for 30$. Just look at how you need to modify it and ask a local hose/fitting shop to do it for you .

You didn't REALLY just put that motor in using the old acc belts, water pump, etc, did you?

yeah i tried putting my old 90 one and just bending the lines to get it to work but it was a pain in the *** and i couldent get it lined up right...

and that hose thing makes sense now, thanks

actually i did, im moving by the end of the month and im broke as ****, so instead of towing the car to my new place where i dont have a garage i figured id put it in here while i had a hoist and such... but as soon as i get some money and time its all getting done.

anyone have any suggestion about the noise coming from my drivetrain while trying to push the car?? you can use the KA driveshaft on a ca swap right??

ka shaft works fine, did you properly install the center bearing again? better double check that, also, did you remove the dust shield from the ca transmission prop shaft input? if not, take it off, its prolly scraping and what not.

did you have to force anything in?

i made my own power steering lines and they work great. i used two sets of 89-90 lines and some compression fittings from the hardware store. just cut them into a proper shape and use the compression fittings where needed. youll want to use as few fittings as possible to reduce the risk of leaks, but i havnt had mine leak a bit in the years ive had it together. my rubber lines leaked like whoa, but thats another (unrelated) story.

oh, and my wiring took a week, but im from the south and we do things slower down here.

what tim is trying to say, is that because he is of lesser intelligence, it took him a week, but somebody of average intelligence, lets say atleast an iq of 80, should be able to do it in a few hours if you follow the instructions.

well i think i figured out my grinding issues....

its that stupid dust shield on the ca transmission , its like grinding agianst my bolts.

how do i remove that with it sll together? or should i just dremel that ***** off?

anyways i started my wiring yesterday i have a few pics. im making everything plug and play with little jumpers, so i dont ruin the integrity of the ca harness, here some pics so far.

int harness jumper

depinned unused wires

together with extra wire+pins

and heres my drive shaft issue

lmk what you guys think about the wiring and such, im doing every plug on the harness like that becuase i ghave both ends of them all.

easiest way to get your dust shield off is take the driveshaft back out, and take a hammer and tap the shield towards the back of the car, should slide off easily, then you put driveshaft back in and voila

and as for your wiring, i find the easiest way to do the dash wiring, is to cut off the origional ka plug/loom that goes up to the right side of the glovebox, as close to the ecu as i can get it, so to get maximum wire length. Then i cut the plug off the ca18 harness as close to the plug as possible, then i just color match the six wires that matter, solder, and heatshriink, there ya go, plug and play.
