Ok, so I have the money to buy my engine. My question is: I found a place called Nagasaki motors, Im sure ya'll have heard of them. I've seen a few reviews where people love them, but also a few where people hate them because they've gotten severely damaged motors or motors with missing parts. The engine from there is $1700(s14 sr20), which I know is really cheap. I'll be replacing every gasket on the engine, along with new oil pump, water pump, etc. Basically, I'm rebuilding the engine but not messing with the pistons. Do ya'll think I should go for it? If I go that route, I'll have extra money for toe rods and a bushing set my my suspension,but that all can wait. Just wanted to see what ya'll would do, or what ya'll think about the company.
Thanks alot you guys

I dont know anything about that company, but I can recommend this company to you.
http://www.jspecauto.com/catalog_catego ... cat_id=111
when I got my SR from here it was mint, and the pricing seems on par with the company you were considering. the site doesnt list any SR for sale alone(engine only) besides the Redtop, but I am sure they would sell a S14 SR engine alone for around $1700 maybe a couple hundred dollars less. anyways, I just had good experience from them and a lot of people use them so I recommend them. its good that you are asking though, because on-site reviews dont mean s***. lol good luck

Im looking for a complete swap(engine,trans,etc.) and that place was 1700 for ALL of it,lol. That's why I'm having doubts. I found another place I think I'm going to order from, unless someone changes my mind. And thanks for the help, Jspec was in my bookmarks on my ld computer

First time poster here, but I saw your post and I was just gonna try to help out. I bought my S13 Redtop from nagasakijdmmotors.com and I couldn't be happier. It comes with a brand new wiring harness, a new maf, the ecu, ignitor, and pretty much everything you need. But now when I bought my engine, which has almost been two years ago, I payed $2,050 shipped for a S13 redtop. But I was very pleased with the engine. Hope that helps.

Yeah now you can get a redtop from them for like 1500. Whether their quality went down or not is the question. I think I might email them and see what all comes with it, and if they promise an uncut harness and maf and whatnot and it comes in a different state, I won't sign the papers and have it sent back

The price probably went down because people aren't buying engines like they were two or three years ago. It comes with everything that they say it's going to come with, or at least mine did.

* Motor with the turbo
* Transmission (5sp)
* Uncut Wiring Harness
* All required Cables
* ECU
* Cam angle sensor (CAS)
* Complete Intake Manifold
* Alternator
* A/C
* Power Steering Pump
* All Brackets and Sensors

Well, I ordered my engine. I ended up going with jdm-online. They've gotten pretty good reviews. Let's hope for the best!

The rb25 was my original choice. Total price was just a little more for the Sr, but I'm about to start college so I need a reliable engine that would be easy to get parts for, so Sr it was. As far as the engine being cheaper, I don't know either
