I just got back from the Indy 500, stopped by my brother's to say hi and he greeted me to this. It's a beast, all I can say. He traded his 2006 Z06 for this 2009 with 32000 miles

A Z06 owner trades for a GT-R? Wow. There's something you don't see every day.

Not all, but damn near every Corvette driver I've ever met (even here in Japan) are complete idiots. You know, that whole "no replacement for displacement" statement probably came from Vette owners.

Hope he likes the car and the astronomical maintenance costs associated with it. Congrats, none-the-less, though.

I remember the 84 Vette dude who tried my 84 Skyline. He learned a lesson.

That a cheaper DR30 Skyline has damn near as much power and grunt as an early C4?
I've driven an '85 that had the 4+3 speed manual transmission. It was in top condition and it was all it could do to get to the top end of the speedo. I maxed it at 132 and that was all I could pull out of it. My dad got it to 137.

No, not even a DR, HR30. That was an L20ET with a full exhaust, supra pot metal intercooler and a boost up. The 84' Vette was a joke.

Weight: 2535lbs
Engine: L20ET
OE power: 145ps = 143hp
Modded power(butt dyno): 180ish?

In this corner, 1984 Chevrolet Corvette

Weight: 3192lbs
Engine: L83 350 small block
OE Power: 205hp
Power after years of running and poor maintenance: 180ish?

It's not that hard to see why I slapped him around so authoritatively. Figure weight advantage, him being auto and me being manual and the it factor of me being a bloodthirsty SOB determined to make him regret the extra money he spent on the Vette and it was a sure thing.

Note, this Skyline in the same trim, but foolishly cranked up to well past 1 kilo of boost ran even with a JZX81 Mark II turbo so it was producing a fair bit of grunt. Of course, I blew the head gasket, but I had fun!

1984 was not a good year for the Corvette. Misfire - I mean Cross Fire Injection. They got better every year after that, and these days they are a pretty serious car. They have their place for sure.

Z06 to GT-R is an interesting trade. Two different animals.

I'd suggest the 84 was arguably the worst year Vette. Weak engine and the styling was vomit inducing.
