I have a 2001 QX4 and I cannot get my blower motor or whatever to shut off! When I press off on the climate control then it switches the flow of air to my windshield and feet. When I press auto or something or change the position of where I want it to blow it changes it, but I cannot get it to shut off completely. It also only blows on the highest fan speed all the time. If I try to adjust it...it doesn't change. In the image on the climate control it does, but in reality it only blows on the highest speed.

Does anyone know what I should do or how I can fix the problem?

My mechanic thought it was the climate control unit itself...changed that and it didn't help.

Has anyone had the same problem? What did you do to fix it?

Can I fix it myself?

Thanks

Its very likely the blower motor resistor.

thanks for the reply! I was also thinking that it could be the resistor, but i'm just not sure. I've been googling this thing just now and I read somewhere that it could be the fan amp and I would have to change that and the blower motor itself...its a kit or something. I also had someone tell me it might be the ECM or something. ughh I just dont know what to do.

yes ive heard some people say fan amp as well! forgot who it was....

anyways ive never had this exact problem... but ive had the climate control freak out before like switching everything uncontrollably and after several hours of diagnosing, it ended up being that the battery terminal was loose on the battery... and it made my climate control freak out... who would have thought ??

Your problem is a bad fan amplifier. You need to replace it to repair your issue. You do NOT need to replace the fan, there is no reason to replace it. Nissan released a TSB saying that to fix the problem you need to replace the fan amp and the blower motor, but this is usually not the case. If you just want to stop the blower motor from turning on temporarily then you can just pull the blower motor fuse.

(The blower resistor is for manual HVAC systems)

See here... If you're good with a soldering iron, you might be able to fix it for under $5...

thanks everyone!!! i really appreciate the help. I was thinking I might try to fix the fan amp, but for some reason i'm scared i wont solder correctly or something so i'm just gonna buy a new one and put it in myself. I will post on here to tell you guys if the problem was fixed! Once again thanks guys!
