Well.. if any of you remember, I bought the AWD stagea RB25DET engine on ebay a while back. Here's the story that goes along with it, if you're interested in reading it:

I was really skeptical about buying an engine on ebay because of the chances of being ripped off. So, I found out every bit of information about him that I could get. His home location, phone numbers, etc. This was actually one of his first engines he put up for sale on ebay. I talked to him over the phone a couple times, he was extremely nice! Yet seemed very busy.

Well.. I decided to go for it and make the purchase. My friend was recently ripped for 3k on ebay for an engine so I was carefull about this. I MADE him get verified through paypal. He REALLY didn't want to. we got into a big frenzy through email and I pissed him off a little bit, but I apologized and told him that's basically my way of seeing how serious he was and to make sure he wasn't ripping me off. He told me I insulted him etc. At one point he told me I insulted him so bad he didn't even want to sell me the engine anymore LOL. But I worked it out again and apologized then payed him a deposit of 500$ through paypal untill he sent me more pictures of the engine.

Well I waited a while and sure enough I got the pictures. So I sent the rest of the money through wire transfer to his Bank of America account. (He lives in America which is VERY good when buying on ebay).

He took off the AWD transmission for me because I did NOT want that, even though it was my fault for not seeing it. He said no big deal he would order a RB25DET transmission from japan. I got a little skeptical again but I still trusted him.

So in about 3 DAYS got the engine delivered to me. The engine is CLEAN! I thanked him. I told him I'd leave him his ebay feedback as soon as he got the RB25DET transmission shipped to me.

It's been a few months now.. we have been keeping in contact about the transmission etc. He ordered one and it supposedly had a 3rd gear grind issue so he waited for another one to come in. So another one came in and it tested out fine. So I'm happy now. It'll be shipped off to me soon, here's a picture:

After all of this I can gladly say I'm happy with everything despite the amount of time it took. I would definetely do business with him again. He sometimes delays time when getting back to you, but he always comes through. Another thing that I find cool is that everything he seems to get from japan is CLEAN as ****. Like brand new.

Anyways, hope no one fell asleep reading this. I'm bored so I thought I'd share my ebay story.

Alot of peopel scream dont buy engines off ebay....I think otherwise. IF you do your homework...as you did...you can have a positive transaction. I personally wouldnt buy a JDM engine off ebay from anyone without 100% positive feedback and at least 10 of those being engines. However it worked out fro you and that is awesome. As lonmg as he keeps in constant touch with you and is workign on it and not givign you the run around......the wait will be worth it....better then gettign strung along for 8 months or more (hint hint)

I KNOW... HE HAD GOOD FEEDBACK AS SOON AS HE CALLED. I MAY END UP HAVING HIM BRING IN A RB30 FOR ME.

His ebay name is 'tcanuta'

Some of the stuff he is selling on ebay is quite spendy, but very clean.

I'm pretty sure he can source out RB25DET's if anyone wants them. I'd DEFINETELY email him and ask.

It looks like the RB25DET that my transmission is coming off of is clean.. so there's one right there. But I don't see it on auction. I think you'd have to ask him about it.

Very nice guy. He's not the best typer nor does he have perfect grammar, but he seems like a good/honest person and I'd trust him.

I'd like to see some of you guys contact him and ask and see what he says. I'll feel pretty good if he can hook some of you up with engines or clips.

It's good that you post the story for us to hear. That way, we know what to do and what to look for so we don't get ripped off.

If your goin to buy something that big on ebay use your Credit card to do it. It will cover your *** and they won't be so quick to rip you off.

That was my first route that I tried to take. It's really hard to use a credit card, because most people flat out refuse to accept them. Also, most people doing this on ebay don't have POS systems established.

Paypal is also a ****** and it has hardcore restrictions for using credit cards through them. And also alot of people won't take paypal transactions that large because of the well known 'paypal fee'...

I tried hard to do that, but it just seemed almost impossible. Next was escrow, but that just takes forever and alot of communication.

My advice to those using ebay is to get their phone numbers and address's and make absolute sure they are legit. Make sure they have secure bank accounts in America. Get them to give you their shipping company information. And pay them in atleast two different ways. Be firm with them so they know you're serious..

After this though, I don't think I'd ever go through the trouble of getting an engine on ebay again.

I bought my front clip 1991 R32 skyline (RB20det) on ebay for $1400. Shipping was $600 but anyway still a good deal. I recieved my clip within a month and it came with all body panels, lights, dash, gauge cluster, etc...very nice.

If you DO buy a clip on eBay...watch for their feedback and be VERY picky. Make sure they have no negative, get there information, e-mail them, call them, ask for verification, pictures, etc. There are always clips on ebay so be patient and find a good one! Good luck.

Yea he's not the brightest guy when it comes to this stuff.. but it's just his job, I doubt he's spent much time researching.

When I was buying my engine from him I noticed it was AWD. He actually told me that RB25DET's are 'awd'. I told him only the stagea had an awd RB25DET.

After I get my engine and ecu from him, it says "stagea" on the freakin ecu. Oh well.
