I started my 2000 Q45 and the battery light came on. the car died while I was driving to the repair shop. I got a jump start and had the battery replaced. The battery light still will not go out. Can anyone help me out.

Probably the alternator. Welcome to NICO!

you can get a free alternator test at autozone.

It sounds like the alternator. A fresh battery will last a couple days, then die.

The alternator is an $850 repair from the dealership. I was able to talk my tire store into replacing mine for $550.00

99% probability that your alternator is failing. Consider changing the alternator belt and this might solve it, but I doubt it.

The reason it goes off after you run the car for awhile is further sign that the battery or alternator is failing. Once the battery finally builds up enough voltage, the lights will go off. KEEP IN MIND that hard driving (flooring it everywhere like me) will draw alot of power and will kill a dying alternator/battery. So take it easy till ya get it sorted out.
Definately the alternator. You can DIY if you have good tools and good mechanical experience. NiCO club forums will help alot!! (DIY is about $250)

Thanks for the heads up. It was the alternator. I just want to pass on a tip my father in law gave me. "Take it to a generator shop. They'll rebuild it." They did, cost me $100.00. It took me a minute to get it off, but installation was much simpler.

Have you changed the plugs on your Q and was it a task.
