On the drive home, there are so many bad drivers. You all know what I'm talking about. People driving way too slow, changing lanes right in front of you, then going obnoxiously slow. I'm ready to get home! Finally, my slow asss wolf pack slows to a red light. There's an extra lane with no cars up yet. Whipped over there and waited for the green...gave her a good swallow of high octane and quick as shiit I chirp away from those idiots, but then! as I near the second automatic transmission gear, I kinda let off the gas a little to quicken the shifting, then give her another good gulp. Chirped the wheels again!!

My automatic transmission peeled a wheel as it changed gears. LoL I've never done that with out a good 5 speed...:icon18

Do you guys know what I'm talking about? I can't wait to get my turbo.

ITS NOT THE TIRES, MY AUTO DOES IT AND I HAVE BRAND NEW TIRES. IF YOU WANT A HARD SHIFTING AUTO UNPLUG THE RPM RESISTOR, THEN IT'LL FEEL LIKE THE REAR IS SQUATING AND THEN THERE IS A BOOST OF SPEED BETWEEN 1 AND 2 AND A SLIGHT CHIRP.

WOULD YOU LIKE ME TO PROVE IT TO YOU? I'LL EVEN LET YOU DRIVE IT! ITS NOT A REAL BOOST OF SPEED ITS JUST THE CAR LIFTING THEN SQUATING BACK DOWN. YOUR JUST ANOTHER ONE OF THOSE MINDLESS 5 SPD IS BETTER IDIOTS WHO DON'T KNOW THAT AUTO RULE THE DRAG STRIP. AUTOS ARE BETTER FOR STRAIGHT LINE MANUALS ARE BETTER FOR ROAD COURSES AND OTHER MULTI-DIRECTIONAL GEAR CHANGING SITUATIONS.

DONT unplug the resistor, i did it and got a check engine light the next day. Also you can burn out your transmission fluid w/o the resistor plugged in.

my ragged out 89 hatch has an auto, and I noticed MAJOR better shifts (and second gear chirps) after unplugging the resistor...........damn near gave my g/f whiplash......so the resistor is plugged back in now to keep her off my azz......also, I noticed the trannie would not downshift when I turned O/D off when it was unplugged........it just seemed to freewheel sort of......

YEAH THE UNPLUG IS FOR HARD SHIFTS. IT STOPS THE ECU FROM SENSING ROTATION AND DOESN'T ALLOW THE transmission TO SLOW BEFORE SHIFTING AND SLAMS THE GEAR. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT BECAUSE THE CIRCUIT ISN'T MONITORED, IT IS JUST A COMFORT SENSOR. THE FLUID IN MY transmission IS DRAINED CONSISTENTLY EVERY OIL CHANGE CAUSE I'M A HARD DRIVER. YOU CAN CHRIP THE TIRES WITHOUT THE UNPLUG BUT IF YOU WANT A PERFORMANCE FEEL AND ABOUT A .1 TO .3 FASTER ET, UNPLUG IT FOR FUN AND SEE THE DIFFERENCE. I CAN VOUCH FOR THIS METHOD AS I HAVE HAD IT THIS WAY EVER SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR.

MAXPOWER THE OFFER IS STILL ON THE TABLE YOU ARE MORE THAN WELCOME TO COME AND PROVE ME WRONG IF YOU'D LIKE.

bah, i tried it on my old beater 240. It doesn't do jack schnit. It's all in your head. It makes the car run like crap, that's about it.

I had a 90' Camry...it would smoke the tire easily if I revved to 6,000 then shifted to drive :) It also worked well to accelerate backwards at about 10mph then shift into drive while standing on the gas...nice big white cloud.

Automatics are only good for drag racing with forced induction applications, and even tho, no one would use a stock automatic transmission. With a shift kit, an automatic can run good times, but I would rather have controll of my engine's rpms manually.

bad tires my asss! that's good ole 2.4 liter TORQUE! snapped my head back into the headrest...

once my auto loses it's magic, i'd like to swap the trannys if i can find a 240 in good shape at the junk yard. i love manuals and wish i had one but for some reason, it seems like 80% of all 240s were all automatics or something. wtf.

i wonder if there are any buildups for the automatics..?

I have done the exact same thing in my '95 when it was an auto. I floored it, let go of the gas right before it would shift, then peg it down again and it would chirp 2nd HARD. It scaired the piss outa my friend.

:) i read a little of your thread about the problems with your swap. did your work out any of the kinks before it got wrecked? was it worth it?

I can easily smoke the tires in my mom's auto 2001 Maxima. My mom even did it on accident once.:)

Really? I thought it was easier to chirp with new tires.
