I'm new here and I wasn't quite sure where to post this. Sorry if this is the wrong forum.

Ok, my antenna on my 240sx is stuck because it got bent. So I decided to replace it. I got a mast and opened up to the compartment where the antenna is. I see the engine, metal housing the antenna sits in and a screw going through the housing into what I think is the antenna. I googled and found that I should unscrew this bolt and turn on the car so the antenna goes up and then just take out the antenna. Well, I wait until the motor stops pushing upwards then I start to pull a little and it won't budge. So I go look at it again to see if there is anything I missed. And there isn't, it should just be coming up.

Well, I kind of repeated this process a few times with no success. One of the times when I pulled the top of the antenna, at the bend, the metal broke and the plastic piece came out. So, how do I get this antenna out so I can put my brand new mast in there? And, once I get it out, should I add grease or oil to the antenna motor because when that little piece of the plastic part came out it was drenched in black oil/grease.

As you would have guessed I'm not that experienced with cars and I was dumb enough to think I could do this myself. Thank you for your help in advance.

My guess is that its not coming out for the very reason your trying to replace it; its bent. Try removing the whole motor and fiddling around with it. You were on the right track though, the mast does come out by removing that small screw.

FYI: Don't try to remove the heat shielding thats glued to the inner side of your quarter panel, that **** is more than razor sharp when it gets cut. I sliced the **** out of my hand when I was removing my motor and I didnt even realize it, thats how sharp it was.

Good Luck!

Nah, the part thats bent is at the top, and now broken off unfortunetly. The rest of it is fine. I really don't want to remove the motor because where its placed is almost impossible to get at. Any other suggestions?

there's a thing in the faq's at 240sx.org about replacing antenna stuff I believe. Mine had a broken mast when I got my car, and yeah, getting the motor out the first time is pain, but once you know the secret it's not too hard. the thing is, if there's a piece of the plastic antenna cord thingy still inside the motor, you're gunna have to pull it out.
