Hi everyone,

here's the problem I have with my Alternator.

When I start the car at the morning, after a night without using it, the alternator is crying, like 'hiiiiiiii', I have to go over 3.5krpm to stop this.

I change it once, and change the battery (now I'm running an Odyssey PC680), and it still doing this.

Sometimes, it doesn't, I don't know why.

When I control the tension with a multimeter, when it makes this noise, the tension is about 11.5v, over 3.5krpm, it goes naturally to 13.5v.

It makes the noise also when i put on all the big tension consummer, like lights, warning, fog light, and rear defrost.

Do you guys had this sort of problem, or an idea of what it is?

the only thing which is different from OEM, is the pulley (ebay lightweight one), I don't know if there's a relation with it.

All my belts are brand new, OEM crank pulley, the tension of belts are OK.

Thank you.

change the pulley back to the stock one and see if it goes away
if the pulley is a different size, then the alternator maybe turning slower than normal, putting a bigger load on it

but it sounds like the bearings in the alternator are shot.... a rebuild/replacement is necessary if that was the case

sounds like it coud be a connection somewhere in the starter/charging harness not getting a good signal and the alt kicking in like it should till you rev it, idk. Howling is usually bad bearings like previously stated, how tight are you tightening your belt. you should have probably half an inch of deflection (1 inch total) in each direction when its tightened

only reason I ask about the belt tension is uhh... well you coud say I learned the hard way lol. power steering is overrated anyways right haha (do not take that statement seriously)

It's doing it again.....

BUT, I resolve this problem, the belt was too long (4pk868 instead of 4PK855), then, the noise disappeared.......
